“Perfect getaway in first class cottage”

Absolutely fabulous cottage with everything you need and a very high-spec build - no tacky chipboard, all solid wood.

Owners Linda and Lawrence very polite and helpful and the sons, so very polite, - a rarity in teenagers these days.

Would highly recomend a stay here - best place we have been by a long long way.

Summary:

“OH WOW!”

The Granary’s website was easy to use, very informative, true and the descriptions exact. When we arrived we were totally stunned that such an amazing place was a holiday home. Every last item had been considered and was exactly where you would expect to find it.

It was home-from-home in every sense. All the crockery and utensils were exactly what you would have in your own home. The fridge was full size and spotless with use of a full size freezer. Full size fully working cooker... a holiday dream. Everything was spotless and beautiful, this was heaven.

They have A4 sheets detailing every walk from The Granary with OS maps, they have provided details for fishing, cycling and use of the lake, canoes provided (and life jackets).

There is a patio deck which is so private. This was a honeymoon, just so romantic sat by the log burning stove on a cold winter night. There is no expense spared with the central heating it is left on all day. So you can go to the lake and get wet through or out on the hills and freeze because you know that you will be able to wash and dry your clothes, have a lovely shower together and cook a meal, then chill by the log burning stove - BLISS

The Granary is high on the hillside near Bala. There is a farmhouse and another cottage which are all owned by the owners. So although the area is remote you have help at hand if needed. The buildings are all stone and slate and have been renovated to an exceptionally high standard, by the current owners, there are lots of old slate steps and stones steeped in time. The views from here are spectacular. There is a lake for swimming and canoeing and a wildlife reed pond.

There are many footpaths which all start from the property, a lot of the surrounding land is owned by the property owners, who enjoy their horses.

Specifically Recommend:

For a winter holiday I was concerned that we would be cold and that the place may be damp, but it was well aired and clean and hot. Plenty of hot water.

The furniture, linen and upholstery were immaculate. The place was much bigger than I expected and if you were snowed in there would be no problem.

Be Aware:

Nothing - it would be impossible to do any more than the owners have done, they even provide wellies

Local Gems:

We stayed on site and walked locally and enjoyed the BLISS

En Route:

We had a stay over in Sheffield, from Scarborough then travelled through Buxton and came the scenic route from Macclesfield
