Summary:

“A Haven in Hertford”

The cottages are purpose-built disability-friendly (we stayed in Broadwater Cottage), although this was not our reason for choosing this property, the amenities were surprising and very pleasing. I could not fault the provision and quality of just about everything you might need - it was truly a home from home - and I have high expectations !

The property we stayed in was all on ground level - very spacious and comfortable in the most idyllic and tranquil setting. There is a secure and large garden area for those with dogs or children - look out for the squirrels !The cottages are next to a riding school so you can expect to see some beautiful horses - this was a certain bonus and in no way an interruption, children especially will love it.

The property is only a short drive - or long walk ! to nearby Hertford where you can find many shops and eateries and there is a train station with access to central London.

Helen - and all the staff I met whilst there - are most accommodating and welcoming. When she says the property is dog-friendly she means it !

What more could you ask for !

Specifically Recommend:

Comfortable, tranquil, dog friendly.

Easily accessible accommodation - especially for those with mobility issues - and many surprising bonuses !

Local Gems:

My main reason for staying was a home from home while my husband was working in the area so was not doing touristy things, but did find Hertford town very pleasant - lots going on at the weekends

Owner’s Reply:

’’Thank you Sue for your lovely review. Tommy (my Jack Russell) still looks for Lucy (Labrador) when ever he goes near the cottage! Hope Paul comes to work near Hertford again soon’’ - Helen

I CONFIRM Sue & Paul were bona-fide paying guests at Broadwater Cottage. Sue’s recommendation was not incentivised and is factually accurate at the time of writing

Summary:

“A proper rest - be prepared to return once you’ve been there!”

The cottage is large enough for 2 persons, enough space. All equipment for self-catering is available and the shops are nearby.

Broadwater is accessible for people in a wheelchair.

The surrounding area offers great places to walk our dogs where they can be off the lead. Around the cottages, it is quiet and peaceful.

When you want, you can travel to London within 45 minutes and enjoy the city life... there’s enough to do around here.

The horse riding lessons were unplanned, but Helen progress me to take them. Since then I’ve become an enthusiastic horse rider.

Specifically Recommend:

Horse riding lessons. Helen is a great teacher and the horses around are very friendly, for beginners and more experienced riders

Local Gems:

Red Coats restaurant - www.redcoats.co.uk - and the Indian restaurant ’Taste of Raj’ in Ware
