“Wonderful cottage for a relaxing holiday”

We had a fabulous week. Very lucky with the weather as it was warm and sunny mostly and any rain was in the evening once we were back at the cottage anyway. The cottage is gorgeous. Fairly small and compact but so cosy and welcoming. We loved it. Plenty of room for us and four Cavalier King Charles spaniels!! And very well equipped and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed spending late afternoon and evening there after being out during the day.

Craig and Susan are so welcoming and friendly and just generally helpful. But they leave you to get on with your holiday so not intrusive at all. The garden is totally secure and a decent size so was perfect for our dogs. The conservatory was our favourite place to sit and read and just relax but equally the lounge is a very comfortable room too.

So much we loved about the whole place that we have already booked again for next year!!

Specifically Recommend:

Lovely sunny conservatory but difficult to pick one aspect of the cottage that we loved as we loved it all!!

Local Gems:

Sea Palling beach is very good and even in summer dogs are permitted on part of it.
Weavers Way great for walking.
Walk to Stalham along Weavers Way, wander down the high street and eat in The Swan Inn. Great pub and friendly and helpful staff. I have Coeliac Disease and have to stick to a gluten free diet. The chef at the Swan Inn basically improvised and cooked me a lovely gluten free meal. Well impressed!!

“Fantastic holiday ”

I had a week’s holiday with my mum and our dog Paris at Badgers Retreat Cottage in Norfolk and I can highly recommend this holiday. It’s situated in beautiful quiet countryside but not far by car to numerous beautiful places like Sherringham, Holt and Cromer.

When we arrived we had fresh flowers, freshly laid eggs, milk and homemade Flapjack which exceeded expectations.

Nothing was too much trouble for Craig and Sue who were on hand should you need anything.

Will certainly revisit Badgers Retreat.

Specifically Recommend:

If you want beautiful surroundings, peace and quiet with lovely walks and beautiful places to visit then this is the perfect holiday.

“Great little cottage”

We had a lovely stay at Badgers Retreat - lovely secure garden which is very important as we have 3 dogs.

The cottage was small but cosy and the conservatory was lovely to sit in the afternoon and evening sun.

We picked a lovey sunny week so we didn’t need to light the wood burner which had been set up ready to light.

The welcome pack was lovely and even dog biscuits which my dogs loved.

The cottage is in a lovely location by a road but a very quite road.

It was lovely to sit in the garden with the birds singing of an evening.

The cottage a must for dog owners - my dogs didn’t want to come home.

Specifically Recommend:

Very dog-friendly

Be Aware:

The only downside the bedroom was a bit small but comfortable.

“What a lovely dog-friendly place to stay in north Norfolk”

Sue Allen was so very helpful with both our stays at Craig and Susan’s. We stayed at Wind in the Willows for two nights in November when we started our seal warden duties at the Horsey gray seal colony.

We had a wonderful time and could not have asked for better hosts or arrangements more easily made. Craig and Susan are very nice to say that we left Badgers Retreat clean and tidy as I broke a wineglass and our dog Hattie broke a plate!

The cottage was lovely and warm and having a wood burning stove was definitely a bonus.

We will definitely be back soon.

“A beautiful haven, just a lovely place to be”

The Badgers Retreat is the perfect base for a relaxing break with your dogs, the Weavers Way is on the doorstep with miles of sandy beaches a short journey away.

The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and well equipped and Susan and Craig are on hand and happy to help wherever needed. The garden is perfectly secure so I could relax while the dogs explored and chased each other round.

It was everything I could have wished for and would highly recommend you visit.... but don’t hog it as I want to come back!

“Well worth a visit”

We really enjoyed our stay at Badgers Retreat, it was situated in a lovely area with the Weavers Way just down the lane. The property had a lovely secure garden for the dogs which they enjoyed plenty of time in.

We found the hosts, Craig and Susan, very welcoming and accommodating and if the need had arisen would have gone out of their way to be of assistance.

There were plenty of games, magazines and books provided if you just wanted to chill out.

Specifically Recommend:

The surrounding area speaks volumes for itself.

Local Gems:

Hill House Inn at Happisburgh well worth a visit with good food and very friendly staff.

Happisburgh and Sea Palling beaches are excellent for the dogs.

Plenty of amenities at Sea Palling, a pub, caf, fish and chip shop and toilets.

“A great holiday and location”

We found Badgers Retreat a really quaint little place. It was cosy and in an ideal location with easy access to the beaches and great walks along Weavers Way. The owner was very helpful. Susan made some wonderful flapjacks on arrival. Craig couldn’t do enough for you - any problems he was straight round to sort it out.

We have stayed in many cottages with the dogs and I find most are only dog tolerant. These owners were dog-friendly and really didn’t mind the dogs being there. That made our stay much nicer. Everywhere was dog-friendly.

Went in the tea rooms in Cromer with the dogs. The Lighthouse at Walcott was a lovely pub and served excellent food. Overall an excellent holiday - ideal location and very helpful owners. We would definitely return.

Specifically Recommend:

Summary:

“Great place to relax for both two and four legged visitors in an excellent location”

The cottage was beautifully furnished and was a great environment to relax in. Especially the large living room-kitchen. The garden was plenty big enough for our small-medium sized dog with lots of plants and smells for her to investigate. Susan had kindly provided some treats in the fridge and fresh eggs from the local farm. There were even some biscuits for four legged visitors.

I would recommend Badgers Retreat not only for the property itself but its location was great for getting to both the beach and the nearby broads. We had an excellent few days stay and would highly recommend you pay Susan and Craig a visit.

Specifically Recommend:

Well furnished cottage, great relaxed location.

Local Gems:

The Weavers Way footpath is right near the cottage and is an excellent walk for dogs. It also has signposts to the nearby pub so was very handy.

“Fantastic dog-friendly area of the country - could not ask for more”

I was looking for a short break with my dogs. I have a Dalmatian and a Collie and so needed to suit larger dogs. We weren’t disappointed, the garden and property is beautiful.

Inside there is everything you need and it’s well set out. I loved the decor and the fact it had a stable door you could open while having an after-beach-walk snooze!

Speaking of snoozing the beds and sofas were extremely comfortable. We did take our own throws for the dogs but there were also some provided. Susan and Craig were very friendly and helpful. Great walks on the doorstep and the beach only a short drive away and what wonderful beaches!

Specifically Recommend:

The dog-friendly beaches. All were wonderful - lots of space to walk the dogs - just keep an eye on the tides.

Local Gems:

Gosh so many! Happisburgh Beach, the Pleasure Boat Inns fishcakes at Hickling, Sheringham sea front. Ice creams on Cromer Pier.

En Route:

We stopped at West Runton beach cafe en route - one of the best cups of tea I think I’ve ever had!

On our way home we visited Sheringham and stopped off at the Red Hart at Bodham which was a real find.

“We will definitely be back!”

Beautiful little hideaway that is truly dog-friendly, everything you could want for a few days away with good beaches close by, owners are friendly and helpful.

Cottage is small but perfectly appointed with everything you need including free WiFi, welcome pack of tea-coffee-milk and home made cake was lovely.

The nearest town, Stalham, is a pretty little place and has a good butchers and a lovely little shop selling all local produce as well as a Tesco for all the essentials

Specifically Recommend:

This cottage is really dog-friendly not just dog-tolerant, dogs are allowed on furniture and beds as long as throws are used which the owner supplies in abundance.

Be Aware:

The location has no phone reception (which for us is a bonus)

Local Gems:

Happisburg beach is beautiful even on a rainy day

Sherringham is a nice seaside town with a nice mix of shops and good ice cream
