“A magical enchanted dell, sure to bring out the child in you”
This is a magical place!
On our first day we wandered down the narrow lane to an old wooden gate covered in moss that you would barely notice if you weren’t looking for it. Entering, we found ourselves in a little dell with a cabin on one side and a covered area with seating and firepit on the other.
Heading down some steps we found a pretty meadow with a stream running through it. On the top level of the meadow is a beautiful traditional bow top Romany caravan and barbeque area, while down by the stream there was a campfire area complete with cast iron kettle - like something out of Swallows and Amazons.
The cabin contains everything you need - and nothing you don’t need. It has a shower room, basin and loo at the far end. In the middle is a cosy living space that somehow manages to cram in a kitchenette, sofa, fold-out dining table and storage. At the other end is a verandah seating area, with doors that can pull back to open up the area to the outdoors. There is no TV, no Wi-Fi and (for us at least) no mobile coverage - bliss!
Yes, the cabin is tiny but handled our needs remarkably well and was gloriously snug on rainy evenings. It has small electric heaters, and the verandah area has a stove. Previous guests have left decorated pebbles and pegs, and there are paints under one of the wooden bench seats so you can add your own if the fancy takes you!
Outside the cabin is a decked area (can be slippery when wet) with picnic table and view of tree tops. These and the barbecue areas act as your dining room(s). The covered area means that even inclement weather needn’t spoil the fun!
But if the weather is just too cold or the novelty wears off, the cabin contains a microwave-combi oven, kettle, toaster and a little electric hob. There’s not much surface space though so don’t expect to be cooking a banquet in there!
The caravan acts as the bedroom of course, and is lit inside by fairy lights. We slept like logs - with the curtains closed no sunlight creeps in to wake you up, and the only sound is the wind in the trees and the water babbling in the brook. The caravan has an electric heater and a small pot belly stove. It warms up quick so no issues about staying warm, in fact we slept with the windows open most nights!
If you can drag yourself away from such a beautiful setting then the surrounding area is fabulous. From the beautiful beaches at Llangrannog and Tresaith to the pretty towns of Aberaeron and Newcastle Emlyn, this is one of the loveliest spots in Wales.
Finally if you are visiting this kind of place then you need to be aware that the place is on the rustic side and you will need welly boots or walking boots if it has been raining.
But really, if this kind of thing is going to be an issue for you, just stay in a hotel and leave this magical place for the rest of us!
Cook outdoors, paddle in the stream (if it is warm enough), relax and recover from the modern world! This is a place to learn to be a kid again.
If you like cheese then be sure to buy Perl Wen - a lovely mild cheese with white rind, similar to brie - and Snowdonia Black Bomber - a fabulous extra mature cheddar.
Steep steps, slippery decking and a big hop up to get into bed make this place unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues or small children. If you are over 6ft or are very overweight or badly claustrophobic, the restricted space in the caravan might not be ideal.
Also as the place allows dogs, I did find that on the first day my pet hair allergy was pretty badly triggered - I wasn’t expecting this as it’s a fairly minor allergy but I can react more strongly to some dogs and one must have stayed recently! This wore off pretty quick but I took anti-histamines for the first couple of days and recommend you bring some along if this is an issue for you.
One very minor niggle - while I appreciate storage space is at a premium, only two small loo rolls were left for a whole week, and I would have expected to see a few more of the cooking basics such as foil, cling film etc. We ended up leaving little salt and pepper grinders to help out with the latter!
Llangrannog - beautiful beach, delicious homemade ice cream from Caffi Patio
Aberaeron - delightful Georgian town with painted buildings arranged around the harbour. Also contains two of the best eateries in the area - the Hive for lunch (don’t forget to sample the homemade honey ice cream!), and the Habourmaster, which is spilt into two - a restaurant and a warm, friendly bar serving food. Also has a good deli.
Cenarth - a pretty village where coracles (ancient type of boat) can still sometimes be seen bobbing on the river. Take a circular walk from the beautiful old bridge, up along the gorge past the falls, then up into the woodland and back along to the village.
Tresaith - another lovely beach with spectacular waterfall
Newcastle Emlyn - a small town with some nice craft shops and a ruined castle.
We stopped at Machynlleth on the way home to the North of England - a pretty town with some good shops.

“A hidden Welsh gem! Romantic, relaxing and magical”
We LOVED this place. Exceeded my expectations of facilities.
The setting is so remote and serene. THE most relaxing holiday I’ve ever had.
The caravan was a beautiful example and very comfortable and warm. The bubbling stream made the evenings magical.
Cannot fault the location for interest and beauty. Would love to visit again! Would recommend to couples with pets.
The Caravan! Beautifully decorated and surprisingly spacious.
Be Aware:The bed is slightly short so very tall people may find it a bit uncomfortable
Local Gems:Llangrannog Beach
New Quay Harbour Sea Mor Wildlife Tours
Cilgerran Castle
The New Inn (4 Miles from caravan) Pets allowed and great food

“A perfect chance to getaway and be silly in peace”
Very peaceful and beautiful.
Very clean and cosy.
New decking area not shown in photos was lovely, nice for breakfast.
Making campfires!!
Tresaith beach is beautiful.
Can be slippy getting down steps if it has been raining so make sure you have wellies with you.
Lots of steep hills driving down to the beaches.
Tresaith beach
The local Londis shop-garage was awesome!
Hereford to Rhydlewis. Stopped at Lampeter and Llandovery - very nice towns
Owner’s Reply:
Please note - No children under 10 - they squeak too much when they see the caravan!!
Dog owners note - field is not enclosed.

“Totally beautiful, simple and tranquil. A perfect honeymoon get-away”
Nestled in a valley, it’s a simple and beautiful place. We planned to do nice things in Cardigan Bay for five days but loved our little caravan so much that we hardly ventured out.
Everything was clean and well thought out.
The hut was very lovely too and we enjoyed eating our breakfast on the balcony overlooking the river.
There are so many pretty places to sit and just watch the world go by....as well as the odd woodpecker and nuthatch.
A great stay. we loved the campfires!
Such a pretty caravan and warm and snug.
A great campfire by the river with lots of baby trout to watch.
Don’t try and take a short cut through the field from the car park - it’s very muddy!
Local Gems:Tiefe River is great for walks and otter spotting
