“The loveliest place I’ve stayed at in Wales”
This property more than lived up to expectations. I visited for the first time in 2008, and on arriving at the cottage on a beautiful sunny afternoon I knew I had come to somewhere special....I stayed 2 weeks then, and returned last year for another week. Had time allowed that would have been a fortnight.
Beautifully situated bungalow in the lovely, unspoilt Dysynni Valley in southern Snowdonia (Mid Wales). It was the family home of the owners, who now live just a bit further up the valley. (They farm the surrounding land including the slopes of Cader Idris.)
It still has the warm feeling of a family home. The views from the bungalow are delightful - Birds Rock is a particularly striking feature, and an easy walk from the bungalow. There is wonderful walking over the hills around, including up to the summit of Cader Idris.
There are four good sized bedrooms two large double rooms - one with en-suite facilities and one with adjoining nursery. The remaining two bedrooms are equipped with metallic bunk beds with two double beds at the base and single bed on the top. There is a large kitchen, lovely dining room and sitting room and a garden ideal for children.
The wonderful walking in the area, and the owners, Lisa and Ken - both so welcoming and hospitable.
Be Aware:This is a delightfully quiet area - the nearest shops are about a 15-20 minute drive away in Tywyn (which is on the coast). It’s very much a place to recharge the batteries, and enjoy nature.
En Route:Drove directly there from home (Sussex) on my way out, but went via Gower on the return (where I spent a few days).
