“Nature, quietness, beautiful mountains and a cosy place to come back to - Gallestra!”
Gallestra is ideally situated in an area where there are plenty of walks just at the doorstep. A beautiful, quiet, lovely place to stay if you want relaxing holidays, far away from noise, cars,....
The house itself is really roomy, nicely furnished, the kitchen has everything you might need. There is a small suitable room where you can hang and dry wet stuffs (yes, it happens to rain in Wales!).
A highly recommended place for walkers!
Local Gems:There is a nice cafe in Dolgellau in an old store. Very cosy and good cream teas!
En Route:The Brigand Inn on the road to Welshpool. A nice pub with a huge fire to warm you up!

“Beautiful and peaceful”
This is a really lovely cottage. It is beautifully furnished and is also very comfortable - two settees and decent beds. You can control the heating yourself and despite the property’s size it is very warm.
It is reached by driving up a single track road, which could be quite stressful if you met a car coming the other way. However this is why its position is so peaceful - you really are away from it all!
Fantastic views from all sides.
Excellent place to stay for keen walkers - you can walk to the summit of Cadair Idris from the property as well as into Dolgellau and Barmouth cross country.
Our dog loved it - having an enclosed yard makes a big difference and despite this being sheep-country there were places to walk where she could be off the lead.
The stars on a clear night - no light pollution

“We would highly recommend this property for its quality, tranquility and surrounding beauty - a peaceful home away from home”
Gallestra is situated in some 750 acres of the most beautiful farmland and forest, with absolute tranquility and breathtaking views. There are a number of walks through forests and near rivers nearby.
The house was renovated to an excellent standard, with ancient beams and original slate floors. Enormous thought had been put into providing everything needed and the quality and style of the furnishings was excellent.
The house’s situation was far more beautiful than expected and the standard and cleanliness were above average.
Suffice to say, we loved everything about the house and its location, particularly simple things such as the nesting swallows and the sheep.
Additionally, nearby Dolgellau is a pretty little town with very friendly people.
The tranquility and the sense that you are away from the rush of the outside world.
Our host was very hospitable and friendly.
One week’s stay felt like a month away.
There is a ruin of a little Methodist chapel nearby and plenty of local walks.
Harlech Castle is a wonder.
Travelling from North Yorkshire, we passed through beautiful Bala and collected some good information and a cup of tea from the Tourist Sports Centre by the lake.
Owner’s Reply:Please note - Children 12 years of age and over are welcome. One well-behaved dog is also welcome, but must be kept on a lead outside the enclosed garden and farmyard.
