“Stylish contemporary and peaceful”
A stylish, spacious and peaceful cottage. Loved the uncluttered contemporary feel - and the stream and countryside views were just lovely.
Recommended for couples - kids might have fun staying in the crog loft though.
Be Aware:For people with mobility issues there’s a surprise step out of the bedroom, a lip on the shower and the cottage is tricky to access (down some stone steps with no handrail or across flag stepping stones)
Take your own pillows if you don’t like feathers!
All the beaches are stunning!
Phone before you go if you’re here out of season - everything’s mostly shut...

“Beautiful perfect place for a restful break away!”
The property lived up to and exceeded our expectations. It was warm, cosy, well-equipped, clean and homely. The boys loved it, particularly the crog loft and the comfy chairs from which to watch a film.
The location is in a stunning part of the Pembrokeshire National Park and the actual building is in a very peaceful and tranquil setting. We had a beautiful sunny weekend for our stay and pulling back the curtains from the big windows in the bedroom and seeing the view in the sun was very uplifting.
The file in the mill was also very helpful and my sons also liked the fact that it was eco friendly.
We would definitely stay there again, Under the Thatch are to be recommended for their helpfulness and efficiency too.
Leave the car at the mill and walk up to Strumble Head and round the coast path and back, it is a fantastic walk if you are up to it.

“A lovely short break in the countryside!”
The accommodation was very accurately described on the UTT website and the numerous photographs shown on the internet representented the high standard of the Old Mill very well.
The facilities were excellent both inside the building and outside in the garden which bordered farm land.
First impressions are excellent as you travel down a farm track to the Mill which is at the bottom of the short rough road. A small stream runs through the bottom of the well-kept private garden, and a wooden table and chairs provides a lovely alfresco dining area. From the garden there are lovely views inland across working farmland and it is a very peaceful setting.
Inside the property the decor is modern and minimal but there are comfortable sofas and a log burning stove if required. The open plan kitchen is well equipped and comes with all the mod-cons required to make cooking a pleasure.
An open galleried sleeping area with two single beds for larger parties is set out above the kitchen. The main sleeping area is in a new copper extension with ensuite bathroom and floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides. The interior has been well thought out and is a lovely place to relax after a day out and about.
We had a lovely stay and felt the accommodation offered good value in a fantastic rural setting.
It might be a good idea to bring a torch as although there is some automatic outside lighting, at night it can be a bit dark outside until you open the doors and turn the lights on from inside the building.
Arrival instructions were excellent and we had no problems so didn’t need to contact the owners.
I think most people will struggle to find fault with the property.
The property was very clean and tidy both inside and out when we arrived, and the conversion of the old mill was well planned and executed.
It is well worth taking a walk to Strumble Head lighthouse which is just a few miles up the road from the Mill.

“Just what I wanted.... I’d happily stay there again”
The conversion of an old mill into accommodation had been done very sensitively to the original use of the building, with the main space kept open and the ground floor bedroom extension matching the original floor area of the old wheel house.
It was immaculately clean, warm and welcoming. Much better equipped than many self-catering cottages I’ve stayed in and it was truly warm - the under-floor heating was very efficient.
It comprises a main bedroom with en-suite in the former wheel house area, and a sitting area-dining area-kitchen in the main building, with shower room. More sleeping available in a crog lofft (mezzanine) above, with room for two single beds.
Picnic table, outside seating area, with a stream and nature trail right outside the door and fantastic views over the rest of the farm to the rear, and Garn Fawr hill to the front.
Excellent access to a wide variety of different activities. Plenty of historic sites close by, particularly castles, forts and neolithic sites.
Easy access to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, lovely beach at Poppit Sands, close to some lovely towns and villages to explore like St David’s, Cardigan and Newcastle Emlyn.
There is a step up to the main bedroom which makes this not quite perfect for wheel chair access.
If you have children in the crog loft it may restrict the use of the main sitting area in the evening as the TV, for example, would be audible to the children upstairs.
The crog loft is probably not suitable for very young children. (See UTT’s Comments below)
Cilgarren and Carew Castles were great to stroll around and very photogenic.
Excellent rock pooling at Manorbier Beach.
If coming from Southern England, a stop at Aberglasney Gardens, just off the A40 near Llandeilo is a good place to break the journey for an hour or so.
The Gold Mines at Dolaucothi, between Lampeter and Llandovery is also worth a stop, but allow a little longer as the guided tour, which takes you down into the mines, takes about an hour. Ring ahead to time your visit properly.
Please Note - Property unsuitable for children under the age of 8 - fast running stream in garden may present risk to young children. Babes-in-arms OK, but there are no stairgates etc. if babies are crawling.
