“Relaxing, clean, spacious property within walking distance from the beach.”
We arrived on a Friday afternoon. The site is quite large with detached and semi-detached houses - all new. We were welcomed by a very clean, spacious two bedroomed property.
When we had unpacked we made our way to the amazing swimming pool including steam room and gym (which was literally a 1 minute walk). There were plenty of activities on offer for the children including archery, bike riding etc. There is a pub next to the club which serves food and there is also a shop serving coffees and ice-cream.
The house has a home-from-home feel and has everything possible including beach chairs, ornaments, kitchen utensils (coffee, tea etc) and lots of guides for travelling around in the area.
The beach is a 10 minute walk away, with direct access from the site, with a pathway which meanders along through the countryside. We walked into Filey (approx half an hour walk) along the beach. We have three children and they all loved our break away.
Beach only 10 munite walk.
Swimming pool 1 minute walk.
Pub serving food 1 minute walk.
Filey town is within a half a mile walk along the beach or a 10 minute drive away.
On-site facilities are pub, swimming pool, kids’ activities
Lots of pubs and family-friendly eateries.

“Lovely accommodation, great location - the perfect short break!”
We have just returned from a weekend break at Serendipity at The Bay in Filey, and had a fantastic time. The accommodation is beautifully presented, and offers every home-from-home facility you could ask for.
It is in a great location in The Bay - just a two minute walk from the leisure centre and the pub, and around 10-15 minutes’ walk from the beach, along private access.
The owner was extremely helpful, and organised our break for us at very short notice. Correspondence was quick and easy, and we couldn’t have asked for better. Highly recommended!
Great location, right next to the leisure centre and pub.
Lovely accommodation, with all that you would need for a relaxing holiday.
Lovely leisure centre with pool, sauna and steam room.

“A home from home, in an excellent location. Owners very thoughtful in making the stay as pleasent as possible. Being close to the beach made it even better and the lesiure facilities were very good”
Definitely exceeded our expectations with a welcome hamper, child cot and high chair, as well as books and dvd for us and children
The location was ideal. The property was lovely, clean and felt very personal, rather than part of some chain. Surroundings had a range of activities including free lesiure facilities, pubs, resteraunt etc.
Very close and easy to the beach so we could make the most of our stay. Also lots of information provided about the area even including takeaway foods etc.
All of the above!

“A very relaxed and happy time with great days out with my family”
We have just returned from staying at Serendipity and have had a wonderful time. We were made very welcome by the owner, Deb Sudgen, who was more than helpful and offers a very personal service and has thought of absolutely everything you will need to enjoy your stay including a welcome hamper - A LOVELY SURPRISE.
Have no hesitation in booking Serendipity as it is FIRST CLASS accommodation in a beautiful location with great amenities on your doorstep eg. leisure complex, beach and pub-restaurant where the food is very good and reasonably priced. You will just wish you could stay longer.
The location is great if you want to tour around and just as good if you only want to go to the beach and do very little.
Good Tesco supermarket in Filey if you want to cook or Restaurant at The Bay is good value and very good food.
The Italian and Chinese are both very good in Filey as well.
There is a quiet ambience at The Bay which is lovely and is all part of its charm. Serendipity is a beautiful well kept property and deserves to be left exactly as you found it.
Local Gems:Taking the steam train Day Rover ticket to Whitby and crab fishing from the pier - the kids loved it.
Flamingo Land pricey but good.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park a great day out.
Eden Camp and The Yorkshire Air Museum both are well worth a visit.
The York Maze again the kids loved it.
Mums - some nice shops in Whitby and Scarborough!!
We just used the motorway Marks & Spencer stops because they were handy and suited everyone. We were travelling from Stranraer to Filey.

“Serendipity is a luxurious holiday haven, an ideal place to unwind”
The accommodation was just as described and very well presented. The house was fabulous and the generous welcome hamper meant we could go exploring instead of shopping. Everything was provided even a wind break, folding chairs and toys.
Serendipity is an excellent location for a holiday. Everything is of a very high standard and there was nothing we were short of. The luxurious feel of the house was conducive to a relaxing holiday.
Deb’s preparations enabled us to feel comfortable and at home. The Bay is very clean and the staff friendly. The leisure centre was a real bonus, especially the pool. Filey town is within walking distance along the clean extensive beach.

“Perfect cottage for a family seaside holiday”
The house was beautifully appointed and in an ideal location on the excellent new development of The Bay close to the pool, cafe and pub - but not too close.
It was a lovely walk to Filey for a young family and the pond on site was an attraction on the way with lots of wildlife.
The owner could not have been more helpful and there was everything we could want in the cottage and more besides! The Bay staff were friendly too. A wonderful home from home.
Welcome basket was an added bonus and location on site excellent for amenities
Be Aware:Excellent transport access but if walking, the incline and distance to the beach may not be suitable to those less able

“Just what we needed...peace and relaxation”
With the property being a new build it had all the facilities required which were of a high standard, it is obvious that time has been taken with the attention to detail.
The small touches added to the overall experience and were more than expected. The property is in a very convenient location and felt cosy and self-contained

“Probably the nicest, good value self-catering accommodation we have tried”
Serendipity is a lovely house. It is extremely comfortable and is equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay including books, music CDs, DVDs, games and outdoor equipment. Even having deck chairs and windbreaks you are welcome to use on days out.
The house was beautifully clean throughout and tastefully decorated to a very high standard.
We received a very warm welcome from Deb who had left us a very generous welcome hamper.
All in all we would recommend Serendipity to anyone who enjoys a peaceful break in high quality comfortable surroundings.
We were sad to leave and will certainly be returning.
Plenty of places to visit nearby but we found we enjoyed staying in the house during the evening as we were so relaxed and comfortable there!

“FABULOUS!!!!”
On arrival we were met by the owner, Deb Sugden, to show us round her wonderful holiday cottage in Filey. The house was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. It is set within a new housing development with its own private pathway down to the beach.
A series of little golf buggies were available to run residents to and from the beach - a very nice touch we thought. There was a really calm feel to the place, somewhere to do as much or as little as you liked.
There is a great pub, serving bar snacks, together with a patisserie-coffee shop and pharmacy.
The little touches that the owner provided were very much appreciated, i.e. a welcome hamper containing sausages, eggs, butter, juice, cakes etc etc, together with an anniversary card for my parents, who were celebrating their Diamond Wedding. I can’t recommend this holiday get-away highly enough!
Peace

“Worthwhile visit”
A very bright, clean and well furnished property. Everything one would need when self-catering.
A welcome pack (very generous) left by Deb was excellent.
The cottages at the Bay complex are nicely spaced, attractive to look at and the whole estate kept clean and well maintained.
Local pub close by was excellent and the walk to the beach beautiful. From the bay the beach walk to Filey was well worth it.
Security on site was excellent. Handy for buses, stops just outside main gate. Filey good for take aways delivered to the cottage - very cheap!
Everything - the property is of a high standard and the owner very helpful and friendly.
Local Gems:Chinese take-away and Kebab take-away in Filey
(Brochures for these are in info pack in cottage)

“An absolutely lovely holiday home, couldn’t have asked for any more whilst we were there. We were made to feel welcome by all the staff at the Bay and we will definitely be going back!”
Serendipity is a lovely holiday home - exactly as described on the website. Perfect for a weekend away either to relax or walk, fish, sight-see etc.
The little extra details really added to our stay. Books, games, CDs, DVDs etc. were all greatly appreciated when it rained!!
The manual full of leaflets, take-away menus etc was also very handy.
Perfect location, only 10 minutes down the road from Filey town centre. Pub only 500m from the holiday home, great atmosphere and lovely staff. Quiz night on a Wednesday was particularly fun!
Overall a gorgeous little house perfect for that much needed get away.
Make sure you visit the John Paul Jones pub on the site. Lovely, welcoming atmosphere, reasonable prices and polite, inviting staff.
Be Aware:Nothing at all, it was perfect.
Local Gems:You can get absolutely lovely fish & chips from the fish & chip shop in Filey right on the front near the amusements (can’t remember the name but it’s a little window next to the Life Boat store.)
Also New Kam San Chinese takeaway does great food at reasonable prices, they also deliver to the house.

“An absolutely perfect place to stay - a beach, pub, bistro and fishing lake within a stone’s throw - I don’t think you could ask for anywhere better for a holiday”
A gorgeous cottage - just as it appeared on the website - ideal for us with two small children. The beach just on the doorstep made our stay extra special as we didn’t have to spend a hour in the car before we arrived on the sand! We found the staff at the bay really friendly and helpful - we even got a golf buggy to the beach and back.
The quality of the cottage was excellent. It was clear that the owner had thought about every detail, there was nothing which we needed which wasn’t there.
Little things like the really excellent quality linen really made the difference. I don’t think there was anything else which she could have done to make us feel more at home, our holiday was fantastic.
The bistro at the end of the street is great, the lady who runs it is really friendly. The whole feel of the bay is so welcoming, it’s as though everyone there is trying to make your stay special. We will definitely be going back again.
My husband is looking forward to fishing on our next visit as the fishing lake looked great too.
The Foxhounds in Flixton does a great Sunday lunch at really reasonable prices but beware that the portions are enormous!
Playdale Farm in Cayton Village is an excellent, reasonably priced place to take the kids, even if the weather isn’t great there is an indoor play area too.
The Green Dragon just outside of Bedale. We stopped there for lunch, all of the food was home-cooked even the children’s menu (they will do half portions of anything on the menu so a bigger variety than the usual stuff with chips is available)

“Just what was needed - a peaceful and relaxing time”
The accommodation was described to me by word of mouth but I have since seen the website, which gives an excellent description.
The accommodation is first class, everything is spotlessly clean and new.
There is everything you can think of for your comfort and catering needs.
The site is so quiet and relaxing and the position of the house is very central to the pub with good restaurant, shops and delightful walk to the beach.
I will definitely go back when I have more time - it was very quiet and relaxing.
The beautiful long sandy beach.
