“A gem of a place to holiday nestled away in the countryside”
Upper Heath Farm is an idyllic country home away from home. Stable Cottage provides beautiful accommodation with everything you could need.
The accommodation for the horses was spot on. Stables, grazing, secure tie ups to prepare your horses, pre-prepared stables, trailer parking and a secure tack room for valuable saddlery. The riding was varied and I don’t think we went on the same bridleway twice!
Jane and Rob were fabulous hosts, welcoming and friendly. Teddy is the cutest dog! A true gem of a place, we are already looking forward to returning. Thank you from us and our three horses for a great holiday -)
Great facilities for horses
Local Gems:The 900 year old church 200 metres away and Stokesay Castle which is only a very short drive away. Not too expensive and very informative.
En Route:We only stopped to check on the horses.

“A not to be missed countryside retreat”
This place is AWESOME! We went for three nights complete with children and horse to ramble in the countryside, find a great local pub and have a proper break from the stresses of day-to-day life. It couldn’t have been more perfect.
The accommodation is beautiful, the hosts are exceptional and the stabling and facilities are fantastic. I really couldn’t rate it highly enough. With a great local pub (the Tally ho - where horses are welcomed in the beer garden) we really did want for nothing. This is an absolute gem and we will be going back as often as we can find the time.
A must-do riding holiday along the Jack Mytton way for anyone who wants some varied, fun and challenging riding on the doorstep.
As an equestrian break, for families or for anyone needing to properly unwind in a countryside retreat

“Great short break at Stable Cottage!”
Stable cottage was immaculate throughout.
The beds and duvets were very comfortable. The decor was tasteful and stylish. The welcome hamper and fresh flowers were very much appreciated. The cottage was very spacious with lovely views from one of the bedroom windows.
The grounds were rustic and charming. Our hosts were lovely people and very helpful in all ways.
Even their pet dog and cat were welcoming and delightful! This cottage is in a great location for a quiet retreat in lovely countryside, yet it was near to lots of lovely places of interest and beauty, such as Carding Mill valley and Stokesay Castle, and Ludlow is close by.
The magazines and leaflets were all up to date and well organized.
As we stayed in a cold week in February, we did miss having a log burner or open fire as a cosy focal point although there was central heating throughout, the lounge was a little draughty in the evenings. (The throws and blankets provided were needed and used, although upstairs was cosy and warm.)
I would recommend this cottage to couples and families.
Be Aware:We really enjoyed our stay. The only drawback was that the bathroom-toilet was in one of the bedrooms. As there were three adults in our party, this was troublesome however for two adults, or families with children, it should be fine.
Local Gems:Carding Mill Valley, for walks for all levels of ability.
Stokesay Castle for historical interest.
We found lots of pretty hamlets and villages en route. On the journey home we visited Much Wenlock and the National trust property, Benthall Hall.

“Fantastic - all horse riders should give this one a go”
This was a fantastic place to stay in every way. The cottage, grounds and location great, hosts friendly and helpful but not intrusive. There was plenty of walking and many sites of special and-or historic interest although we went mainly for riding.
We took two of our horses who had fab grazing and stables even with a solarium to dry off after a bath. The riding was amazing both nearby and further afield on identified bridle ways all of which can been seen on Shropshire County Council’s website.
Good pubs-restaurants locally. Highly recommended - 5 star - you won’t be disappointed whatever you go for. The town of Ludlow is 9 miles away with great shopping and fantastic places to eat. Just outside of the town is a wonderful food centre where you can watch local produce being made and spend loads of money! We were blessed with great weather too.
Riding, eating places, walking, cottage for location and comfort.
Local Gems:The food centre in Ludlow was fantastic and good for self catering with ready meals to save cooking.
Riding on Brown Clee just a mile or so away with acres of riding at all paces

“Will not be disappointed, straight out of Country Living magazine”
We took our two horses with us for this mini break with the dream of off-road riding and beautiful countryside, and we were not disappointed. The stables were fantastic, mega deep bedding, also on rubber, automatic waterers, and big, airy, stone stables with the most lush grass paddock for 24-7 use.
The cottage was just as impressive, beautiful, superbly clean, quality finishing, luxury carpets, towels and bed linen, with lots of personal appropriate touches.
It was so enjoyable to go to a place with such class in an area untouched by time.
Looking forward to a return trip..
If you are taking horses it’s perfect, if you are after a very tasteful country stay in a cottage from Country Living magazine then you will not be disappointed.
Local Gems:Pub was good fun, great community.
The rides were fab, the hacking was so quiet, even on the roads we only met three cars all day.
The cottages and buildings in the area were outstandingly beautiful and so interesting to ride or walk around.
Tally Ho pub in the village.

“Brilliant”
Stable Cottage is lovely, it is beautifully furnished with some really tasteful touches. All the basics -tea, coffee, milk, eggs, olive oil even a homemade cake - are all provided.
The cottage is very warm and cosy with plenty of hot water. There is a lovely, sheltered private courtyard which is a sun trap and great for sitting in around the chiminea late at night looking a the stars.
We took two horses, the equine facilities are great and the hacking is out of this world and very varied. Two of our friends came with their camper van and they were made to feel very welcome too. They brought their bikes and had great fun on the hills in the area
Very helpful owners
