“Peace and quiet in a wonderful cottage at the foot of the Preseli Mountains”
This is the second time I have stayed with Babs and Matt and I hope to stay many more times. The cottage is beautiful and wonderfully remote and peaceful but at the same time there is easy access to Cardigan, Newport and Fishguard.
The cottage is spotlessly clean and very cosy with central heating and a wood stove. The kitchen has everything you can need and set off with a jug of fresh flowers.
It’s wonderful to come home at the end of the day and have a choice of two gardens to sit in or sit inside with a wood stove surrounded by stained glass windows. Tempting to stay there all day and just enjoy being there!
Local Gems:Mwnt beach for swimming and seals.
Newport beach and Newport Parrog.
Pentre Ifan cromlech.
Nevern church and Celtic cross. Cilgerran Castle and walking along the river.
River trip from Cardigan bridge.
National Wool Museum near Newcastle Emlyn.
Tapestry at Fishguard Library.

“A Real Home from Home!”
We have just spent a wonderful week in the Old Pottery. Tranquil, peaceful with complete relaxation. Ideal for a couple who need to get away from it all. Has charm and warm comforts, a real homely feel, and is immaculately cared for by Babs and Matt. Great to see our dog was even made welcome with her own drinking bowl and towel!
Location is an excellent base for visiting the Pembrokeshire coast. Would recommend to any couple and their dog looking for a well earned break, you only need to take yourself as Babs has ensured all home comforts are supplied!
The peaceful location!
Local Gems:Poppit Sands, wonderful for dog walking!
En Route:Whitesands at St David’s was just wonderful!

“A beautiful well equipped property in an idyllic, peaceful location that would provide the perfect holiday destination at any time of the year”
The Old Pottery is secluded, private, and very quiet yet located no more than 30 mins from Cardigan in one direction and Fishguard in the other. We found it to be an ideal base for exploring and walking the stunning coastline.
The attention to detail - the stained glass windows, the path mowed through the field next door for walking the dog, the luxury duvet and more, made our stay extra special.
The peaceful location and attention to detail and comfort throughout the property.
The unspoilt beaches and uncommercialised surrounding area.
The coastal walks - especially Strumble Head and Dinas Head.
Newcastle Emlyn for a variety of independent shops.
Ice cream from the van parked at Lower Fishguard.
Beaches at Penbryn and Mwnt, and hot chocolate from the cafe at Mwnt!
Fish and chips from Bowens at St Dogmaels.
Took a slight detour to visit Carreg Cennen Castle and Farm Centre near Llandeilo to stretch our legs and enjoy some lunch.

“A well equipped, comfortable base in stunning surroundings.”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Pottery. It is in a slightly more remote location than we would normally choose, but the property is in a beautiful spot and the surrounding countryside is stunning.
We were made to feel very welcome and The Old Pottery is stylishly furnished and well equipped. We would definitely stay there again.

“We loved staying at the Old Pottery so much that we wished we had been able to stay a second week”
Our stay met or exceeded our expectations in every way. The cottage itself was equipped to a very high standard. We did not expect a dishwasher and a washing machine for example. The shower in the bathroom was super deluxe and the whole cottage was spotless throughout.
The cottage was very quiet being tucked away some distance along an unpaved track. This was somewhat daunting when we first arrived as we had a bit of trouble finding our way. But once settled it was no problem.
The location provided easy access to numerous spectacular areas for visiting such as coastal walks along paths with spectacular scenery.
The only suggestion we have is that a small night light to illuminate the three steps down to the bathroom would be helpful at night.
Local Gems:The walk around Dinas Head was spectacular as was the visit to Skomer Island.
Eric W, Florida, USA - 15th July 2013
Owner’s Reply:’’That’s a great idea about the night light, thanks Eric. We will look into getting something that guests can switch on or off, depending on their preference’’ - Babs

“A first class property in a first class area.”
The property is in a stunning location and the owners did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Anyone who is looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings will be hard pressed to find anywhere better.

“A little gem”
Babs and Matt are great hosts who always have the cottage ready and waiting - even logs in the woodburner, and fresh flowers on the table. The cottage is small and beautiful with everything you could possibly need - all good quality.
Surrounded by fields and woods which belong to the owners and which open out onto the Preseli Hills for lovely walks right on the doorstep.
Our little dog is in Heaven - she can wander at will.
The peace and tranquility is wonderful, bird song being the only sound and yet it is only a short drive to the local shops.
We like it so much that this was our third visit and there will be many more.
Welly boots are useful if you intend to walk on the Preseli Hills as they have boggy areas, but they are lovely to walk on.
The cottage is basically on one level, with just a couple of steps here and there, which makes it nice and easy.
There is constant hot water and you can self-regulate the heating.
We like to go Newport Parrog for lunch at Morawelon
(right on the beach) and then have a walk along the river bank or have a walk along the coastal path.
Also in Newport, The Golden Lion does great food. Both of these are very popular and it is safer to book.
We stopped at Tenby for lunch one visit and Laugharne another and Saundersfoot another time, all of which were good.

“Fantastic holiday accommodation with the best host you could wish for”
Babs was great and helped us out when we really needed it. The surroundings and cottage itself was just what we wanted and was even better than the pictures.
The variety of books and DVDs available was fantastic.
Make an effort, weather allowing, to take a walk around the surrounding areas
Be Aware:Potential guests should be aware that the track from the main road up to the cottage may not be suitable for normal cars and has large boulders and is very uneven and could cause some damage to the car if not careful
Please see Owner’s Reply below
If you like antiques and wandering around shops with loads of interesting items I would suggest popping to Narbeth for a walk around the antiques shop
Rachel B, Oldbury, West Mids - 30.05.13
Owner’s Reply:’’We are 400m from the nearest road on a rough, but drivable track. It’s fine for normal cars if you drive slowly - we have a Mini that goes up and down the track quite happily. Our neighbours, the other track users, all have normal cars, not 4 x 4s, and use the track every day’’ - Babs

“Stunning, warm, welcoming cottage near Newport Pembrokeshire that I would recommend to anyone wishing to have a relaxing comfortable break”
We were very pleased on arriving at The Old Pottery, it was beautiful, warm and welcoming. The owners were lovely, they settled us in on arrival then left us to get on with our holiday.
The Old Pottery is a wonderful place to stay for complete quiet and beautiful surroundings. We love to walk with our dog, Red, who really enjoyed staying here too.
Beaches and stunning coast lines for us all to walk. The Old Pottery has everything you could wish for, it was home from home.
If you love walking and want complete peace and tranquility you will love this place.
Very dog-friendly
Plenty of secluded beaches within short driving distance.
Did not eat out as we had our dog with us, the cottage has everything you need to have a great meal in

“An idyllic setting and spotlessly clean”
In a beautiful setting and spotlessly clean, the Old Pottery has everything you would want for a quiet, relaxed, away-from-it-all break.
The design is perfect, with two private outdoor seating areas and a well-equipped kitchen and living space. Although we visited in March and the weather was quite cold, the central heating and the woodburning stove in the kitchen kept us warm.
We would definitely recommend the Old Pottery!
We would recommend this beautifully designed, well-equipped, well-furnished cottage.

“Cosy cottage with beautiful surroundings perfect for walking”
We absolutely loved our stay at the Old Pottery cottage. As soon as you drive up to the entrance you can’t help but feel relaxed!
The cottage itself is really beautiful and it made the perfect getaway for us - really peaceful and cosy!
The surroundings are also stunning and Babs has a great collection of cutouts of local walks which were really helpful to have a look through to get some tips! We took our dog with us and again, Babs was really accommodating, leaving out a spare towel and dog bowl for her.
We even had fresh flowers left our on the kitchen table! We had an absolutely great weekend and would strongly recommend the Old Pottery to people looking for a getaway.
The scenery’s gorgeous so I’d really recommend going out on as many of the walks as you can!
Local Gems:We spent our nights by the fire in the cottage so don’t have any particular pub or restaurant recommendations I’m afraid!

“Wonderful romantic hidey-hole - perfect all year round”
The Old Pottery is a wonderful place that I would highly recommend for a weekend away, or longer, for two people. We went over New Year and it was everything I expected and more.
The house was cosy and perfectly clean and tidy. Everything you may ever need was there and it had all mod cons (including ipod docking system), a lovely new bathroom and everything and more in the kitchen. Even the book selection was good!
The location is fabulous and the landscape around the house is amazing. To walk right out of the house and on to the moor was luxury.
I’ve stayed in a lot of holiday rentals and this one was perfect - for both summer holidays or a cosy winter break.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Take your walking boots.
Local shops weren’t that great for supplies so plan what you’re taking but buy locally where possible!
Book if you want to eat in the nearby pubs over busy periods

“A cosy characterful cottage”
The Old Pottery is a lovely little cottage, full of character in a tranquil setting. Clean and comfortable with everything we could need and very kind welcome gift for our honeymoon!
The surrounding area is beautiful and there are many lovely places to visit - particularly Marlow Sands.
We met the lovely Babs on our last day even though the main house is just next door so the cottage is very private.
We would certainly stay here again, and fully recommend it to other couples.
The stove is an added bonus!
