“We are already planning our next visit and will probably take a couple of friends with us which then makes this a bargain break away. Even at full price for 2 people it was a great deal for what you get.”
We went away for my wife’s birthday to have a relaxing time.
While away we used our mountain bikes on several occasions even in the pouring rain! To return to the lodge and be able to use the great hot tub was perfect and enjoyable in the rain.
The lodge was really nicely decorated with everything we needed.
The hot tub
Local Gems:Cycling was great around Ambelside and Windermere.
We had a meal at The Mortal Man in Troutbeck which was fantastic.
Mainsgill farm shop on the A66 is a great place to stop en route.

“Fabulous British break in beautiful surroundings with great food and drink within reach”
We stayed at Badgers Rest Lodge, Limefitt Park over the Christmas Break for a family break and it was excellent. Despite the great British wet weather we were snuggly warm in the lodge, that had all the required facilities to a high standard. The booking followed by the check-in process was easy and efficient. The information and service provided by Lake District Lodge Holidays was faultless and a seamless process.
We had our Christmas Lunch at the nearby Mortal Man and it was outstanding. The view from the dining room was stunning, matched by the service which was phenomenal and the food excellent. It was our first Christmas Dinner dining out and it exceeded our expectations.
It was a perfect finish to our Christmas Day to be able to chill out in our lodge and play the traditional family board games.
We went for a walk on Boxing Day with some light refreshments in the Queen’s Head, another great pub.
Overall an excellent Christmas break in the Lodge and highly recommended.
The Mortal Man - great food and service
Local Gems:Mortal Man - fabulous country pub with attention to detail on service.
