“A peaceful relaxing time with all the facilities we needed to make the holiday a pleasure, not a chore”
The accommodation was very well described on the website and the photographs gave us a good idea of what to expect.
We were very pleased with the large rooms. Having a wheelchair user in the family means lots of space is required. The downstairs twin room (the one with the ceiling hoist) was very spacious, and all the doorways were sufficiently wide to pose no problems for regular wheelchair use.
A converted stable backing onto a still inhabited, working stable! You wouldn’t know this once inside, however.
We stayed in The Ashwell, with an H frame ceiling hoist in the downstairs bedroom. A nifty bit of craftsmanship meant that somebody using the hoist could travel from anywhere in that bedroom to anywhere in the adjacent shower room. We liked this!
The shower room is a proper wet room and easily large enough to also accommodate a couple of carers, if required. We liked this too!
If you are a wheelchair user, then searching for holiday accommodation is done from a different point of view than for the average holiday maker. We can heartily recommend this cottage from the accessibility aspect
Be Aware:If you’re a bit techy, you might like to know the GPS co-ordinates are
N 51 deg, 46.625 mins
W 0 deg, 3.880 mins
These in your satnav will take you right to the entrance of the stables, the postcode alone probably won’t
If you like walking and sightseeing, there are plenty of geocaches in Hertford. (If you don’t know what this is, visit www.geocaching.com)
En Route:We were travelling from ’Up North’ and found that the Milton Keynes Shopping Centre (www.thecentremk.com) was very handy. If you need a changing place - (www.changing-places.org) - it has one, and was great for breaking up our long trip.
