“Ideal for disabled users”
Booked this property because it was disabled-friendly. The owner is fully aware of the needs of the disabled. Lots of equipment available at no extra cost.
The owners live on site so are available if needed. Very well cleaned and well supplied with household appliances along with kitchen equipment.
Electric shower providing constant hot water. Level entrance to building although the key safe is a bit tricky to open. Owners took in the home delivery and put it away.
Ideal for wheelchair users.

“Excellent accommodation providing comfort for anyone with a disability”
Bench Cottage is a brilliantly designed bungalow for people with disabilities. From an easy-acess shower, riser-recliner chairs and wide doorsways, to lever taps and touch-sensitive lamps - everything has been carefully thought about and provided. There was also a long list of additional equipment which could be requested at no extra cost.
Bench Cottage is situated a short distrance from both the New Forest and the coast, and has many places of interest to visit nearby.
It has enabled us to have a lovely holiday which otherwise would have been denied us through disability.
The knowledge that someone with a disability can have a comfortable holiday.

“One of the best holidays we have ever had!”
As someone in our party has a physical disability and uses a wheelchair, wheelchair access was an important factor in the suitability of our holiday accommodation.
We were not disappointed by Bench Cottage. It has provided us with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The layout is superb. We especially liked the layout of the wet room and the fact that the wash basin is height adjustable. The electrically adjustable beds were very comfortable.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Bench Cottage to others and are already saving in order to come back ourselves!
The cottage is in a lovely peaceful location, away from busy main roads.
Local Gems:You will need to bring your own toilet rolls as you are only provided with one by the owner.

“Excellent”
A disability-friendly bungalow with own parking space. The bungalow had everything we needed for someone in a wheelchair with limited mobility.
Quiet residential area with nearby local shops. The owner provided details regarding accessible local sites, shops, restaurants etc.
Owner provided an extensive list of equipment that could be provided in advance at no extra cost. All equipment was in the cottage on arrival and made things so much easier for the disabled visitor
Disability-friendly
Lots of additional equipment provided free of charge
There was a huge choice of additional equipment provided in advance
Local Gems:Wallampton Arms PH - Tuesday and Thursday ’Theme Night Buffets’ are excellent value. Carvery on a Monday

“It was perfect and caters for the disabled very well”
Bungalow is situated at back of owner’s property in a very quiet road, so it is very peaceful. It’s like home from home.
Right on the edge of the New Forest, so there are plenty of nice little rides and villages to visit.
There’s a local shop and a chip shop five minutes’ walk away.
Only a 10 minute drive to the town of Lymington (what more could you want)
Owner is very obliging
Specially adapted for disabled people - you can borrow everything to help with one’s needs.
Nothing - it was perfect
Local Gems:There are so many local gems....
Walk along the seafront at Barton Milford
Gardens at Bournemouth
Deer feeding at Bolderwood
We were travelling from Chelmsford, Essex and we didn’t stop until we got to the New Forest as we had a 95 year old in a wheelchair, so we found lots of parking areas in the forest, rather than keep getting her out of the car.

“Good”
Mrs Lewis is a charming lady who, despite her own disability, was readily available to offer advice and assistance at all times.
5 star plus for disability assistance
Comfort
Be Aware:Only problem was inability to use the toaster because it set off the smoke alarm, but the alarm was placed where the fire authorities insisted, so owner could not be held responsible!

“Excellent”
The bungalow is very well suited to wheelchair users.
A lot of thought has gone into the decor and contents.
The kitchen is accessible for use by a wheelchair user, as is the bathroom.
A lot of attention has been paid to detail, to make the accommodation ’Home-from-Home’ - little details well thought out - eg digital clocks at bedside
Very well adapted for wheelchair user
Be Aware:Many extra aids available eg hoist, shower chair

“Even in November, excellent!”
Everything was as stated in the advert and exactly as expected.
All our needs were catered for, plus easy access and off-road parking. Bungalow was warm and comfy.
There are plenty of places to see and visit. My favourite, apart from The Forest, was Beaulieu Motor Museum.
For disabled guests, it is worth noting they are registered with the local doctors, and a hospital is close by if needed. - (NB - Please read Owner’s Reply (1) at foot of page)
I will go again.
Quiet, peaceful.
Plenty to see locally
The beds are electric, but did not rise (NB - Please read Owner’s Reply (2) at foot of page)
Local Gems:Restaurant in sea front car park - Highcliffe
En Route:Travelling from Rutland. Needed disabled toilet and snack so stopped in service station on the M3
Owner’s Reply:
(1) - With regard to the local doctors, they have changed their procedure recently and this means you need to register with them either prior to staying, or during your stay with us in order to use them.
(2) - Please note that the reviewer is quite right in saying that they are not Profile beds, but nor do we advertise them as such. They are standard size beds with an electric control to either raise the feet or the head end ie. electric foot and head riser beds - which work independently of each other when used as a double.
