“Incredible and we will be back!!”

My husband and I got married earlier this month and unfortunately could only have a few days away for a mini-moon because of work commitments, and we found this wonderful place on the internet and booked Spice Barn.

We got married on the Saturday and travelled down to Cornwall the next day on the Sunday from Reading which took a good four-five hours. By the time we got to Cornwall we were very tired, but waiting in our cottage was a free hamper packed full of local produce such as bacon, eggs, scones, cream, jam, bread, milk and lots more, including a local newspaper. It was certainly a welcome surprise after our long journey. We also got a bottle of champagne and chocolates too!

The Spice Barn was gorgeous and I have uploaded some picture so that you can see how wonderful and cosy this place is. We definitely want to go back there again. We were provided with towels, slippers, dressing gowns and toiletries which was lovely too.There was a lovely relaxing atmosphere which immediately calmed our mood after the busy 48 hours that we had had!

The following day we met the owners (Jo and Mike) and had a chat with Jo, who recommended some local places to visit, including Sams at Fowey. I can highly recommend this restaurant and the food was incredible!

Unfortunately, the wi-fi was down for the first day and there isn’t much phone reception, but Jo and Mike fixed this swiftly and Jo even let us borrow her mobile to call home to let our family know we had arrived safely. They both genuinely wanted to help you and make our stay comfortable.

One thing that went beyond and above the service I expected - my husband and I noticed smoke coming out of our car when we were driving down to Cornwall and Jo and Mike asked their friend JD to come and look at the car. He suggested it was a diesel leak. He called his friend at the local garage and he fitted us in straight away and had it fixed within 15 minutes!

We had an amazing time and the experience gave us a wonderful start to married life and has left us with memories that will last a lifetime. We’re off on our honeymoon to Barbados soon and they seriously have a lot to live up to if it’s going to match our time at Old Larnwarnick! Thank you so much to Jo and Mike and we’ll be back next year but this time with the whole family!

Specifically Recommend:

A few tips...... Go to the hot tub in the daytime - wonderful views!

You MUST have a treatment in The Pamper Room with Tiffany - I had a massage and fell asleep!

Go up to the place on the hill - the views are spectacular!

Go on the woodland walk!!

“Fantastic in every way - a memory to treasure”

We booked this break away at relatively short notice and when we arrived we were absolutely delighted - exceeded our expectations. The desciption of the cottage was pefect and the standard of the accommodation was exceptional. Whilst there I celebrated my birthday and was treated to a 3hr pamper session - spoilt - definitely it was great. Would recommend this too!

My husband also arranged for the Birthday package which was waiting for me after my treatments - wonderful and what a lovely surprise.

We took our dog and wanted a little piece of heaven and this is what we got. Time stood still and we enjoyed going out and about but also just being in the cottage. A real home from home.

Would go back again and again. Thank you Joanne we loved Old Lanwarnick

Just enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the cottage and the countryside. Allow yourself to relax and unwind

“My best 40th birthday present ever - loved it!”

We had an absolute fantastic stay. I felt so relaxed and was surrounded by pure luxury. Spice Barn was very cosy and modern with everything you could need. We used the gym and the hot tub, we stayed in and cooked our evening meals as it was so nice.

It was pure indulgence and I would recommend it to anyone who needs to switch off from a busy life, there is plenty to do and we had a great time.

We will definitely be going back. This was a 40th birthday present and it was definitely the best. Really nice personal touch from Jo and Mike and super-inspirational with what they have achieved. Loved it!

Specifically Recommend:

We went on one of the beach walks that was recommended in the welcome pack which was really good with a cove.

Lots were recommended by owners but we didn’t get round to doing everything.

En Route:

We did a detour to Bigbury beach where my partner went kite surfing and I had a coffee on the beach. We liked it so much we stopped there on the way back home.

“A perfect retreat for both two-legged and four-legged discerning guests”

The Spice Barn was exactly as described, ultra modern, boutique and certainly 5 star.

We booked our stay for a birthday weekend and, as importantly, for a weekend of relaxing and riding.

Our horses were greeted with as warm a welcome as we had, nothing was too much trouble for them and attention to detail was clearly key in accommodating us all.

Anyone wanting tranquilty, luxury and fabulous countryside
