“Bacchus - the hidden gem of Cornwall!!”
Bacchus is well above what one would reasonably expect from a B&B. Susie and Tommy are so welcoming and accommodating and I know of no one else who would run a free taxi service for their guests - even in the early hours of New Year’s morning!! That was gratefully appreciated, especially as we had socialised so much with the local people!
The room itself is beautifully clean with a lovely large bed and plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. The towels in the bathroom are fluffy and beautifully soft. There is a full compliment of drinks available in the room as well.
Susie and Tommy positively welcome the use of the kitchen by guests if they wish to bring in their own food. We cheated and brought takeaway, but how great to sit and eat and enjoy the spectacular views over the harbour.
Bacchus is a must visit for these views. Imagine getting up in the morning, getting ready at a leisurely pace, then heading to the dining room for a wonderful breakfast cooked to specification by Tommy whilst admiring the beautiful panoramic views over Mevagissey Harbour.
Susie is wonderful, she made us so welcome and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. We really cannot recommend Bacchus highly enough. One really has to be lucky enough to stay here and experience it themselves to fully appreciate just what a cut above this is.
The personal service is amazing, Susie and Tommy really go out of their way to ensure that their guests have the most wonderful stay, and are so accommodating.
Mevagissey itself is beautiful with a wonderful variety of shops and restaurants. The fishing is amazing, and the people are welcoming and friendly. We thoroughly recommend a visit to Mevagissey and staying with Susie and Tommy at Bacchus.
Suitable for couples, singles or families
Relaxing
Warm atmosphere
Fountain Inn - great food, full compliment of beers and lagers, and a wonderfully period building with a great atmosphere and charm
Mevagissey Harbour - hire a boat and go fishing
Mevagissey Social Club
Highwayman Inn, Shepton Mallet - not the greatest but OK pub grub. Not overly expensive, thoroughly edible. Good selection of beers and lagers. A welcome sanctuary on a day when it was pouring with rain! Maybe a little lacking in atmosphere, but would eat here again.
