“Fantastic cosy log cabin in Limefitt Park Troutbeck”
Lodge was very cosy, ideally situated, fully equiped, Limefitt Park is in a lovely area, lots of walking, local pubs close by, good food, suitable for families and dog owners.
So relaxing after busy days walking and lots of fresh air and plenty of wildlife, deer, badgers, birds. We have stayed in Kingfisher lodge about six times now, we love it and so do our two Standard Poodles, we will definitely be rebooking log cabin for 2015.
Cosy log cabin in friendly park not far from Windermere

“Quietness and comfort. Genuine quality. Small site very well maintained. The lodges are of very high quality. A jewel.”
This is a superb all-wood lodge. Fully equipped with bedding & towels, TV, radio DVD player and even a games console. Gas, elec all included.
A must if you want quietness with comfort.
They welcome dogs and the dogs will appreciate the walks they get.
We were very sorry to have to leave and come back to reality.
We have and will be telling friends and family and hope to return this year.
The quietness and comfort.

“Fantastic holiday for all the family”
The lodge was very well equipped and a very high standard of cleanliness - it is the best dog-friendly accommodation we have stayed in.
It is situated in a beautiful area with fantastic views of the surrounding hills and valley, with walks on the doorstep to suit all the family.
We have recommended this lodge to our friends and we will be returning next year.
The superb food at the local pubs and the dog friendliness of the local area.
Local Gems:The walks from the lodge through the Troutbeck valley, the stunning views and the dog friendly pubs

“First class holiday!”
The lodge was perfect - well furnished and in a beautiful part of the site next to the river.
This is the second holiday - last time in Otter Lodge - equally good.
The site is nice and quiet but close enough to the main towns for shopping and sightseeing.
Good food at the Mortal Man - highly recommended!!
Either Otter Lodge or Kingfisher Lodge both excellent.
Local Gems:The Mortal Man pub - food fantastic.
Lovely dog walks straight onto the fells from the site.

“A great, great holiday!”
Absolutely gorgeous cabin in an ideal spot. Our 13 week old Lab loved the dog field and it was great that she could just wander around the veranda and balcony with no worries that she could get out
Joined by my sister and 18 month old nephew for a day and John & Linda have thought of everything... high chair for kids etc. Really handy is the inventory so you know what you need to take instead of over packing or buying bits when you get there - relaxed from start to finish.
A fantastic break - would highly recommend and would not hesitate to book again - Susie, Sam & Ziggy

“Try it! you will love it!!!!!!”
We have already stayed in Otter lodge at Limefitt and stayed in Kingfisher Lodge at Limefitt - both are like living from home to home.
Lovely place to stay, both the lodges and the site. We love it very much and can’t wait for our next stay.
I recommend this to both the young and the older person, it’s a place you will go back to several times without a doubt. Try it!
Local Gems:Everything - attractions, restaurants, local pubs.
On-site pubs are brilliant.

“Fantastic short break - can’t wait to book again”
Fantastic lodge and well equipped. Was in the best possible location in this universe, had fabulous views and the sound from the stream was amazing.
Our dog loved the lodge too and had fun running about on the outside decking.
The surrounding area and the park site was great for local pubs, especially the one on site - very cosy and a great place to stay warm after a walk!!
The Haybarn pub on Limefitt Park is a great place for meals and drinks - a warm and welcoming place.
Local Gems:Queen’s Head pub in Troutbeck - great food and friendly staff.

“A relaxing enjoyable weekend break, with great views”
The lodge is located right on the edge of Troutbeck, with the decking area looking out over the water.
The lodge contained everything we needed for the weekend break including a BBQ.
The owner of the lodge, Mr John Hobson, was very professional, all the information he provided was exact and very informative.
I would recommend this property to couples or families, especially with a dog.
The lodge is a lovely place to relax and unwind as a couple or a family.
I would recommend the local walks in the information folder provided by Mr Hobson. You could park your car up for the weekend and you can walk to the local pubs.... The Mortal Man, The Queen’s Head or on site at the Haybarn
Local Gems:The Queen’s Head pub has a fantastic menu to choose from and is also dog-friendly. I would recommend booking a table (cannot book if taking a dog) as it gets extremely busy.

“The holiday was very relaxing”
The accommodation was excellent, very warm and cosy and well equipped.
The surroundings were very scenic, beautiful and peaceful.
We enjoyed walking in the beautiful countryside and just generally chilling out in the evenings.
Very pet-friendly
There was nothing we felt the owners could have provided to make our stay more comfortable - there were no problems whatsoever.
The Pub on site was very friendly and nicely decorated

“Everything was great - the lodge was great, the walks were great, the location was great - we will be returning!”
If you are looking for a great relaxing and comfortable holiday, within stunning scenery but close enough to visit all the local attractions, then look no further than the Kingfisher Lodge.
Once booked, we were emailed how to access the lodge, details of the interior, exterior, local places of interest - even has its own doggy page detailing where dogs were welcome!
The lodge was exactly as described in its advertisement, with great attention to detail regarding the decoration and furnishings. It was simply a very lovely stay in comfort within a stunning location.
Situated within Limefitt Park which has a launderette, reception, shop, doggy field, children’s park - even a pub - it is surrounded by stunning scenery of Applethwaite Fell and on the Kirkstone Pass.
The owners have been thoughtful enough to suggest local walks, have given plenty of DVDs, books, computer (PS2) & games to occupy the evenings within the lodge.
The lodge has everything you could need on a self catering basis but if you feel like eating out we would recommend the Queen’s Head which is only a mile up the road! (It also has a variety of lovely beer to try!).
My husband, dog and I can’t wait to return!
All the above!
Be Aware:Take a torch if venturing out on an evening - it can get pretty dark in the park.
Also, access may be an issue if in a wheelchair for example - due to space inside the lodge and steps.

“Relaxing”
The Lodge was very clean, tidy and comfortable. Even though we didn’t have good weather, there was always something provided by the owners to keep us occupied inside the lodge.
Some great views surrounded the park and it was central to most local attractions.
The only thing we wish the owners could have provided was a way to stop it raining haha! - we had a lovely time
I would recommend the lodge to family and friends who want to get away and relax and take in the scenery.
Be Aware:The park is slightly out of range of local pubs, so it may not suit everyone.
We found the gas oven was very slow when cooking.
(Please see Owner’s Reply at foot of review)
Grizedale Park
Lake Windermere
Swimming at White Cross Bay
Thanks Keith for the kind comments - glad you had a lovely time!
I would like to mention that we do have 2 fantastic pubs - the Mortal Man and the Queen’s Head both within 10 minutes’ walk.
I will put a note in our arrival instructions regarding the need to adjust oven temperatures upwards - it does seem to be a common issue with LPG ovens I’m afraid.
