“Lovely accommodation, great location, perfect for dog owners”
Me, my other half and our fur-baby stayed in Tides at Rainbows End in Bacton for two nights in January. We were looking for somewhere quiet and close to the beach, this was a holiday for our dog mainly. With our first baby on the way we wanted to have once last break just the three of us.
Communications from the owners was superb, info about how to get there, extra info about dog-friendly facilities in the area etc were very helpful! The accommodation was very clean, modern and comfortable. It had everything we needed plenty of cookware etc, complimentary washing up utensils, soap etc which we had taken with us as didn’t expect it. Bailey especially enjoyed the homemade dog biscuits which were left for her! A very nice touch.
The beach was literally two minutes’ walk from the chalet. Due to the time of year we visited when it was high tide there was no beach at all and only a small amount at low tide. That being said we probably wouldn’t go back in the Winter but would love to re-visit in the finer weather.
It was really nice to get away for a couple of nights and Bailey was overwhelmed by the amount of walks and runs on the beach she got! I would recommend to anyone with a beach-loving dog!
Fish and chips from Bacton Fish Shop
Local Gems:Fish Shop in Bacton was lovely and great value for money.

“Tides at Rainbows End is an excellent place to relax and recharge your batteries!”
We found this little gem on Twitter and at once thought it would suit our needs. We wanted somewhere to relax and recharge our batteries.
Rainbows End was the ideal place to walk along the Coastal Path and the beach. It is ideal for children and dogs (although we had neither) - don’t let that stop you from visiting!
Cottage was well stocked, the DVD player a lovely bonus after a long day walking.
Enclosed terrace - keeps children and dogs safe.
Beautiful views and a calm atmosphere
Everyone on the park is happy to chat and recommend places to visit.
Debbie Copas is extremely helpful.
Walk to Poachers Pocket pub - Dog- and child-friendly, good food and lovely staff.
Kingfisher fish & chips (try the cod bites!) - not over priced and cooked to order.
Visit Wells-next-the-Sea - magnificent beach and colourful beach huts.
All the villages along the coast have something to offer, stop off and you will be surprised!

“Clean, comfortable and quiet - excellent family-friendly accommodation”
It seems surprisingly difficult to find accommodation of a good standard right next to a beach, so I was pleased when I found Tides, and it lived up to our expectations.
The accommodation was very clean (given that the focus is on dog-friendly holidays I didn’t know what to expect, but didn’t see one stray dog hair!), warm and comfortable. Everything we needed for our stay was provided, which is unusual in self-catering lets so was a nice surprise.
The owner was very helpful and all the information needed was clear and provided in good time for our trip.
The site is lovely and open, with green spaces and a path straight onto the (empty) sandy beach. There was no noise at night. Location is good for getting around North Norfolk. Excellent for families, with or without dogs.
Location, facilities.
Local Gems:Beach is excellent and was virtually empty the week before the school holidays.
We had small children with us Wroxham Barns, Bewilderwood, Amazona, Dinosaur Park.
Local shop is well stocked and friendly.
A1, A17 and A47 - never a pleasure but that’s no reflection on the property!

“Perfect Relaxing holiday for Mum, Daughter and two dogs”
The surroundings were quiet, beautiful and calm. The beach was a two minute walk away and the sea was in view from Tides. The cottage (chalet) was spotless. Plenty of everything you need on a holiday.
Great local shops and fish ’n’ chips. The beach was clean and quiet. We were a mother and daughter with two dogs. The cottage has a balcony. Dogs not allowed loose on the park, but beach was so close.
Well we went for a chill-out holiday. We had a rough journey getting there due to weather and traffic jams. So we didn’t go anywhere other than the chalet and the beach.
I popped to a local fish ’n’ chip shop who cook to order - so everything is fresh - and further down the road was a Sainsbury’s.
Next visit we will explore the woods I saw and other local attractions. Meanwhile we just enjoyed the sea and beach being so very close.
Local Fish ’n’ Chip shop. Cooks your orders there and then so have to wait.....But well worth it.
Beach two minutes’ walk away.

“Want a relaxing holiday with a clean comfortable place to stay........ this is the place”
This property is one of the best I have stayed at. The property is very clean and comfortable with all you will need for a very relaxing stay. The beach is brilliant and on your doorstep with local shops nearby, and the park is well looked after.
My dogs and us had a lovely holiday there - it was very relaxing. This property is ideal for people with dogs as the beach and local woods are nearby - definitely recommend this place to all.
Sea Palling beach is not far and is amazing - who needs to go abroad with beaches like this. You will find the locals friendly and food great, with lots of places to visit.
Thank you Debbie for allowing us to have a lovely holiday at your cottage.

“Our very own Secret Escape”
We left our worries at home when we arrived at the
Tides. Unspoilt non-commercialised location.
Very comfortable and clean accommodation close to the dog-friendly sandy beach.
We were able to relax on this currently small, very open spaced development overlooking the sea in the distance. Very peaceful and other residents were friendly.
The owner of the Tides was very helpful and provided lots of useful information.
Overall - a Wonderful Break.

“99 per cent perfect!”
The property was all that the brochure claimed. Tides was very clean and welcoming, very warm and comfortable. Every entertainment we wanted was provided, instructions on how to use all appliances were clear and precise. We found plenty of info regarding eating out and places to go. Loads of toys for the dog.
I myself have mobility problems but nothing in the property I could not access or enjoy. The parkland around the property was lovely and plenty of space to exercise the dog. Would certainly visit again.
Whatever the weather, the property would be warm and comfortable
Local Gems:Bacton Woods - perfect wildlife habitat and excellent for dog walking.

This property is in a lovely location, minutes from a lovely beach and lovely surroundings. The property itself is very well equipped you only need to bring your towels and t towels there is everything else there that you could need.
It is clean, tidy and modern. We will definitely be going back and would recommend it to friends and family, especially those with dogs - mine had a wonderful time on the beaches.

“A relaxing, dog-friendly New Year break!”
A very clean, well presented property on a lovely holiday park with plenty of green space and all only a stone’s-throw from a dog-friendly sandy beach.
We stayed over New Year and were greeted with Christmas crackers, chocolates and even a bag of treats for the dog - what a lovely gesture!
This is a great place for anyone with dogs - there’s lots of open space and the beach walks were lots of fun!
The Poachers Pocket and The Lighthouse Inn pubs both offer good food and a warm, dog-friendly welcome!

“Amazing- beautiful place and well worth the money. Would definitely recommend - 10 out of 10”
Had an absolutely fabulous time whilst staying in the Tides apartment.
The chalet was wonderful- modern, nicely decorated, clean and well equipped with everything you would need e.g. iron, washing machine, fridge freezer, hoover, games, DVDs etc etc.
Had the best night’s sleep I can ever remember having!
This was my first time in Norfolk and I will definitely be coming back! The location is fantastic if you’re looking for somewhere quiet, relaxing and good for dog walking.
The site is immaculate and full of open grassy areas. The beach is a 30 second walk away and very quiet. My kids and dogs had an amazing time (in spite of the cold weather).
Great places to eat locally and everywhere is dog-friendly which is a huge bonus.
Am already planning my next break )
Gorgeous beach a stone’s throw away.
Poachers Pocket pub for great local food and dog friendly.
Lots of great walking sites.

“Amazing find, not too far away”
Thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Tides at Bacton.
Honestly didn’t expect the chalet to be quite as lovely as it was! It was really well equipped, leaving nothing left to mention that would be needed.
The location was perfect. Looked straight out to sea and peaceful with no rowdy people on site.
We will definitely be back as the price is another thing that would definitely tempt us back.
VERY close to the beach which is virtually your own at any time of the day!!!
Be Aware:This is a fantastic property for anyone, with the only exception of a wheelchair user as there is no access ramp.
Local Gems:Sheringham is by far the nicest little seaside resort to visit, followed by Wells.
Had a lovely meal in The Lighthouse Inn not far up the road but also found a total gem of a pub called The Anchor Inn at Morston. Food was amazing!!!
Wendy B, South Woodham Ferrers - 14th June 2014
Owner’s Reply:
’’I’m very pleased that the property and park met or exceeded your expectations. It’s always lovely to hear! Regarding wheelchair users - there is a ramp on site, provided by the park management - I just need to be alerted to the needs of the guest in advance.
The Anchor Inn is one of many lovely pubs in Norfolk and it also happens to be where you can buy or collect tickets for a boat trip with Temples to see the seals. Book in advance and you can tuck in to a lovely meal after an enjoyable afternoon out seeing the seals’’ - Debbie

“A great place to stay - you’ll love it”
An excellent place to stay for a holiday for us and our dog. We will definitely be going back.
Tides was clean, modern and well presented and sited on a lovely holiday park. There was lots of open space on the holiday park and we did not feel hemmed in by the other properties. It was lovely being able to eat out on our balcony of a day.
We were delighted to be sent a thoughtful and detailed welcome pack before we left that told us about some of the best local attractions, as well as details about local vets and places to buy things for the dog.
The quality of the accommodation and the site on which it is located.
Local Gems:The beach is nice to walk along and we recommend you to Wroxham, as you can hire a boat or go on a paddle steamer. We (and the dog) also enjoyed the steam railway nearby.

“Cosy and friendly”
Though our family are older it was a good place to stay, though you need to get on!
Easy to keep clean with the dog. Lovely for younger families. Beach brilliant, Bacton fish and chips 5 star.
Paddling in the sea.

I send a document entitled Bringing Your Dog, prior to your holiday, which I hope gives some useful information and also have a pet page on my website. “Child and Dog heaven”
The chalet was very modern, clean and well looked after with home from home comforts.
The property was spacious with plenty of room and storage for clothes, coats etc. Little extras include a washing machine and large fridge with freezer compartment. There is a towel rail in the bathroom for soggy towels and extra blankets and pillows if required.
The decking is a particular quality of the property. It is enclosed, covered and the owner has provided seating and a storage unit that hosts toys, beach essentials and even a kite! Perfect for children to sort while you admire the sea view over breakfast.
The beach access is right on the doorstep too which again is toddler- and dog-heaven! Other guest comments commented on the steep steps down to the beach so not wheelchair-friendly but not an issue for us.
Quiet, friendly, close to local amenities and attractions further afield.
We’ve been home now for 3 weeks and I’m already ready to return!
Would recommend to responsible dog owners, young families, couples.
Local Gems:The Ship Inn at Mundesley, warm and dog-friendly.

“A really relaxing, immaculate place to stay”
We always holiday in Bacton but this was our first stay in Tides. It was everything we needed, immaculately clean, completely modern and a real home from home. It was almost like it had just been refurbished and we were the first to stay in it!
It was warm enough in the evenings and all the equipment in the property was of high quality. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in.
The park was lovely and quiet and a short stroll to the beach, which our dog was very happy about. The covered and gated decking at the front of the property was really useful for leaving out wellies etc.
In summary I can’t recommend highly enough. We will definitely be back.
If you want to be assured that you will be staying somewhere very clean, this is the place for you.

“Great peaceful dog- and children-friendly get away”
We wanted a peaceful get away for the period between Christmas and New Year that suited children and dogs. This place fitted the bill perfectly.
It was our first trip away with our two medium-sized dogs and we were so glad we found this place.
Tiled floors throughout relieved the pressure to make sure dogs (and children) had perfectly clean feet. We made use of the decking area for welly changing and dog feet cleaning though as it is partially covered and we were able to keep our wellies in the storage box out there.
The storage box also contains a lovely supply of items that can be borrowed - including a kite and buckets and spades. Even in December our children had fun on the beautiful beach with these.
The cottage itself is very well equipped. We found everything we needed to self cater the whole trip (although never did find the oven gloves listed in the inventory!). The large fridge is much bigger than the one we have at home. The oven was great and there is even a washing machine.
Dogs are not allowed on the furniture at all but our dogs soon understood what was expected and settled in their beds on the floor very happily.
We were a little concerned that we might be cold at this time of year, but the electric heating is actually really good and one evening we were actually too hot!
As we just wanted a quiet get away, we didn’t explore much. We did, however, visit Bacton Woods more than once. Highly recommended for both children and dogs. Great fun was had whatever the weather.
The beach is lovely and we let our dogs off for a sprint around (they love to run). Other dog owners walking along the top were a little wary at the sight of our two and we tended to put them back on leads whenever another dog came into sight (which seemed to be appreciated). Everyone was really friendly.
The only other place we visited was Happisburgh to have a look at the light house (only open very occasionally) and to go to the beach. The children found the cliff erosion interesting and the dogs liked the beach.
Not a lot was open with it being New Year but we do very much recommend Bacton Superstore Friendly owner and good supplies including some great local pies and pastries. Most supplies for your stay can be bought there.

Our dogs would have been able to easily jump the fencing round the deck so we did tie them up out there on occasion (particularly during welly change or feet cleaning).

’’Thanks Liz for your detailed review. Glad to hear the heating was up to scratch - I have stayed there when it was minus 10 outside and kept nice and warm! Happisburgh Lighthouse is well worth a visit, but is only open on a few days in the year. This link gives you the planned days for this year.

Sorry about the oven gloves my cleaner must have taken them for washing and forgot to put clean ones out. Any issues like that can usually be resolved with a quick phone call, so don’t hesitate to ring or text me if needs be.
The balustrade round the terrace is approximately 36 inches high, just for reference for other guests with dogs.
Thanks for the recommendation regarding the pies at Bacton Superstore. We will try them out next visit! It’s a lovely shop and the owners have worked very hard to make it a success’’ - Debbie

“A great Norfolk gem!”
Would like to say, once again, you excelled. The cottage was spotless - you would never know that there had ever been a dog staying in there previously. We love our dogs but we also like a nice clean holiday home so it is lovely to come to a place that keeps it immaculate!!!
Once again the cottage was first class and all items - cooker, hoover etc - all high spec so when you go to use them they all work properly which is great.
The chalet overlooks the green and out to sea which is a lovely view which is great to see from the seats on the decking which is fenced and gated so no worries about the dogs.
And then, the best till last, the beach. Just on your doorstep, doggie friendly where your dogs can run and swim to their heart’s content!!!!!
The Chinese take-away in Bacton is worth trying as we had a lovely meal.

“Clean and modern and very close to the beach”
This is our second visit to this site. At Christmas we stayed in Beachscape and recently we stayed in Tides.
Both properties were clean and modern. The site is safe for children to play outside on the green and with the beach within minutes it is an ideal location for families.
Perfect location for families and dog owners
Local Gems:Poachers Pocket excellent food and The Lighthouse Inn provides free evening entertainment for children.

“Great comfort for owners and dogs”
The owners of Tides have decorated and equiped the chalet very well. The beds are firm and comfortable, the bathroom is clean and modern, the kitchen with good quality oven and hob and also a large free standing fridge-freezer. The living area has two nice two seaters and also a large flat screen TV with DVD and i-pod doc.
Great for dogs with the decking and close to the beach

“Brilliant, quiet, relaxing location”
We picked this location as we were informed that the area surrounding was dog friendly. We could not have asked for anything better. The cottage was easy to find and first impression was clean and well catered for.
Jaz, our dog, was soon settled just a shame he could not have had a run on the vast green space outside... We found many little places nearby that we could run Jaz. Even Yarmouth allowed dogs on one section of the Beach.
The pub nearby was unfortunately having a few problems I believe financially but we were still able to sit outside or inside if we wished. The local chippy closes very early so go early doors (food is cooked to order though so is hot and fresh). The Poachers Pocket, a little walk along the front, was again dog friendly and here I was able to take Jaz down to the beach.
I know I keep harping on about our dog but this was mainly his holiday and he enjoyed every minute. Would well recommend this location to those who want a nice quiet holiday away from it all. Thank you to our hosts for a wonderful stay....

“Thoroughly enjoyed the break”
A lovely, quiet little place, ( I have to say the term cottage is a bit misleading, although, that IS what they are called on the site). Very new, very clean, very comfortable, especially the beds, well equipped and modern. Loved the touch controls on the hob. Good tiled floor surface for the dogs and sandy feet, we just ran the hoover over every day.
The beach is very close, but it is quite a steep stepped access and dogs aren’t allowed on there during the summer, although there are plenty of beaches nearby where they are. - (Please see Owner’s Reply)
The place was lovely and warm and the shower was a joy (so very often they are temperamental in a holiday let!)
Couldn’t fault it really, it was everything we wanted in the way of somewhere quiet to get away from it all, for a short break, or if we had wanted, even a week or two. Lovely, Thank you Deb.
The quiet.
The open space.
The warmth and comfort of the beds.
The cleanliness.
Mundesley. There was a book sale on and refreshments being served at the Village Hall. The people are so friendly and it is a very picturesque little place, with easy access to the beach

Owner’s Reply:
’’Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and I’m very pleased to hear you couldn’t fault it!
For newcomers to the area... this area of the coast is above sea level and has a sea wall to protect the cliff behind from erosion, so there are steps at regular intervals to allow access to the beach. I’m sorry that the information wasn’t clearer, but the beach immediately in front of the park isn’t dog restricted, although there are three beaches further along to the left of the park that are. The Council produce a pdf with details of all the restricted beaches and I provide these in the property and a link on my website. I have written on the ones in the property to try and clarify our position in relation to the restricted beaches’’ - Debbie

“Delightful place to stay”
An absolutely gorgeous cottage, cosy yet modern, had everything you needed for your stay plus more.
Setting perfect near to the sea for great walks on the beach to nearby Walcott and Mundsley. This property is perfect for taking the dog with tiled floors throughout.
We went at Christmas and even had a Christmas tree in the cottage. Will recommend to others.

“Peace, tranquility, home from home, dog friendly, beach location - Tides chalet - Bacton is well worth a visit.”
We stayed at Tides over New Year and our friends and their children and dogs stayed at Beachscape chalet on the same site. The chalets were immaculate and very well equipped with home from home comforts including top of the range appliances.
Tides is light and airy and we were really impressed with the heating system - it was lovely and toasty. Beach is literally a two minute walk from chalet - down some steps. Dog loved it on the beach.
We visited the Poachers Pocket pub on a couple of occasions and would recommend the food (dog friendly pub too) - the walk to pub via beach route was about 15 mins and shop just up the road. If you want a relaxing comfortable quiet break away then this is the place to go - if you are looking for amusements, fun fairs and noise then don’t go here!
Another huge bonus of the chalet, if you are taking your dog, is there is a seating area at the front of the chalet with a gated area so your dog can sit outside but it is fenced in with decking -perfect! We have only been home for two days and I have already recommended the chalet to friends !
Very clean and modern - lovely bathroom - even has a washing machine!!!
Very good for taking the dog due to decking area at the front of property which is gated and completely fenced off.
I was expecting it to be a little cold but the heating system was great !
Lovely sandy beach, dog friendly pub and cafe just up the road.

“Fantastic clean, friendly, modern property with great views - you really couldn’t ask for more!”
All round excellence from Tides at Rainbows End Park. Immaculately decorated and furnished with everything you could need including fridge-freezer, washing machine, hob and oven, flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player, central heating, kettle, microwave, toaster - you name it, it was there! There is also an outdoor decking area with table and chairs, and a box full of everything you could need for the beach, especially if taking children.
The property was very clean and fresh, with fantastic views overlooking the green and the sea. The beach was a couple of minutes’ walk and from there you could walk for miles. The dogs loved it.
We celebrated our 7th anniversary whilst staying and had a memorable time, we were so so pleased with everything and shall definitely return.
Plenty of information and board games etc are also in situ to make any day entertaining.
Everything has been very well thought out here, 10 out of 10.
If you are taking dogs - fantastic.

We also visited Cromer and Sheringham whilst staying.

“Just what we needed and expected!”
Our stay at the Tides was much needed due to my husband developing Myeloma bone cancer earlier this year. We wanted somewhere he could manage the access to the property and the accommodation needed to be on one level, Tides was excellent in both cases.
The cleanliness and decor were of a high standard. We also wanted to be able to access the beach easily and exercise our two dogs - they really enjoyed running up and down the lovely sandy shore and dipping their paws in the sea.
During our stay we visited several places i.e Bacton, Cromer and Great Yarmouth - all were very impressive clean and interesting. For entertainment we generally called in the local pubs such as The Poacher’s Pocket, The Blue Bell, The Ship and the very eccentric Guntan Arms which was set in a thousand acres surrounded by deer and stags. The food was lovely in all of them and everyone was very friendly.
Overall we could not fault anything with our holiday and look forward to going back next year, God willing!
The chip shop and Chinese in Bacton - we highly recommend.

“Lovely peaceful relaxing holiday for all!”
We all had a fantastic holiday here, the accommodation was spotless and had everything we needed. Two minutes’ walk to the beach and a beautiful view from the lounge.
Although we didn’t have a dog, it catered for them and I was slightly apprehensive because of this but should not have been as it was very clean everywhere!

“Comfortable, well-equipped, dog- and child-friendly chalet within a stone’s throw of the beach ”
We had a fabulous time in this comfortable, well-equipped chalet. The dogs loved to run on the beach and our little boy had his first ever paddle in the North Sea! He also loved the slide in the park.
We found the locals extremely friendly (we were even invited to their Jubilee celebrations!)
We would gladly recommend Tides to anyone who wants peace and quiet with the beach in easy reach, especially those with dogs and-or small children.
One lovely touch is the large box on the terrace which contains beach toys and wind breaks etc. for you to borrow.
For entertaining young children, particularly if its too cold for the beach, head up the coast to Blakeney or Wells and try crabbing - the full kit only costs a fiver and it’s great fun for all the family!

“A must for our needs”
Everything we wanted. A friendly, relaxing site where we and the dogs were made welcome. A very undeveloped part of Norfolk, thank goodness, so beaches were deserted. Beautiful sandy beaches which are very clean. If you want clubs, entertainment etc then this site is not for you but if, like us, you want to recharge your batteries in peace and quiet then Tides is a must.
The property was very clean and comfortable with modern, high quality appliances. Tiling throughout was great as we did not feel stressed that the dogs might dirty carpets. The gated veranda meant that we did not have to worry that the dogs would go off on walk-about and provided an area where we could enjoy outside breakfast and coffee. Unfortunately it did not benefit from the evening sun but this is nit picking.
We would certainly return to this property. Good information from the owner and easy to contact.

“Quiet sea view property of a very high standard”
We stayed in the Tides chalet. Lovely quiet location with view of the sea. Lots of open space to look out on.
We spent lots of time in the property because the facilities were so great - flat screen TV, comfy sofas, and everything you could wish for in the kitchen.
The bed was very comfortable with good quality bedding. Nothing about the finish and the quality could be faulted.
Our dog loved sitting on the balcony and keeping a look out for anything she could see.
We felt we could have shared the property with other friends or family and still not felt cramped
Great quality. Neither of us had ever stayed at such a well-equipped holiday chalet before, a real gem and excellent value.
Local Gems:A local Chinese and fish & chip shop within 10 minute walk (or few minutes’ drive). Shop a little basic but could get a paper and pint of milk.
Lovely easy to access beach at Winterton on Sea.

“The accommodation was excellent, beach close by and very relaxing”
Just had a very relaxing few days away in Bacton, Norfolk, staying in one of Debbie’s beautiful holiday homes. It was tastefully decorated with good kitchen facilities, comfy sofas, TV and beautiful views over fields and the sea.
The sun came out and the walks along by the beach to the next village were stunning and there was a very friendly cafe with good food - the Kingfisher, (with very generous portions!).
Would particularly suit dog owners. Also great for young families (large area to play football etc and lovely beach).
