As always, a perfect holiday in a wonderful log cabin. Really cannot fault the lodge. Perfect location and ideal for people with dogs. Have already booked to go back. Wonderful
Specifically Recommend:Good, generous-size main bedroom
Local Gems:The walk over Troutbeck Tongue is very good - not too taxing
En Route:We stop off at Ullswater and always go to Granny Dowbiggins tea room. The dogs love the doggie bag they make for them

“A little gem to relax and unwind”
The lodge gives a fantastic feeling of being remote but with key facilities on site.
Sitting on the decking, you could be 100s of miles away from anywhere, looking out at the countryside with a beautiful stream only metres away.
A fantastic place to relax, well kept, quiet, clean and a recommended base for all the Lake District has to offer.
The children, parents and grandparents loved this lodge and didn’t want to leave.
Take advantage of the quiet surroundings to unwind and enjoy all this lodge has to offer.
Local Gems:Book a boat trip on Windermere for a great day out

“Riverside retreat - holiday bliss!”
Our second visit to Jinnyspinner, lovely to find everything we needed - including the Lego! This year we were blessed with glorious weather and we had the most fantastic time!
The boys played in the river pool everyday (OK - I did too) paddling and splashing around. We ate on the verandah and watched the bats in the evening as they danced over the river and a couple of mornings we woke up to find a heron!
The lodge is perfectly placed on site and really quiet. All six of us fitted in comfortably and the bed in the master bedroom is extremely comfortable! The park is really well placed and you can walk from the doorstep or travel a bit further afield.
There is a good play park and a pub on site which is reasonable. Booths supermarket in Windermere has lovely food too so you can treat yourself
The very best feature of this site is Trout beck running right through it and right past your back door!
Local Gems:Brockehole Visitor centre is a really good starting point and will give you lots of ideas for the rest of your stay.
Good first mountains for children - Helm Crag. Wansfell Pike and Catbells.
Exciting adventures - if you hire a canoe on Derwent water you can land on most of the little islands and go all Swallows and Amazons!

“The fabulous, Jinnyspinner Lodge”
Jinnyspinner is a beautiful lodge situated on the very peaceful Limefitt Park. It exceeded our expectations of where we would stay, and the lodge was well equipped with everything we needed for our short break.
It is situated next to a stream which the children loved and the scenery from the sun deck is just fabulous. There is also a small park for younger children and a recreation field for the older ones to play football and tennis.
We visited Bowness on Windermere and Ullswater and the food at restaurants and pubs were very good.
A great get-away place for good walks, food and relaxation!!
I would recommend visiting this lodge if you want peace and quiet from a break in the Lakes.

“Loved the lodge, Loved Limefitt Park, Loved the Lakes.”
The first thing we noticed was how clean Jinnyspinner was. Having stayed in dog-friendly places before, I wasn’t expecting a lodge of this standard. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and again looked spotless.
The lodge was in the best position in the park, next to the beck and we loved sitting on the deck listening to the water flow.
Our two Border Terriers settled in straight away making the verandah their own!! They had perfect views of the sheep in the next field.
There are fantastic views from the whole park and the walk behind the park was perfect for walkers of any ability. For a more adventurous walk there was a climb up Nanny Lane which passed the Mortal Man pub....Ideal.
We also drove the 20 minute drive to Elterwater for a walk we found in one of the books in the lodge. It took us on a circular walk through the fells and past Skelwith Force. Amazing views. It took three hours and at the end of it was the Britannia Inn which served lovely home cooked food and served real ale. Dogs were made very welcome too.
At the end of the day there was nothing nicer than having a relaxing bath in one of the two bathrooms then off out to the Haybarn for either a meal or a drink (alcoholic or not). Be warned that the real wood burners kick out some heat in this place which makes it nice and cosy despite its size.
I would recommend this lodge and Limefitt Park to families and couples who enjoy the outdoor life, whether they have dogs or not.
Britannia Inn in Elterwater for food and friendliness

“Brilliant”
Fantastic location for mountain biking - several routes right on its doorstep so no need for transporting the bikes to somewhere else and then bringing muddy bike back in your car!
They let us use their hosepipe to clean the bikes as well.
Beautiful surroundings and nice and peaceful with several local pubs for food if you don’t want to cook.
Cabin spotless and cosy with everything you could need.
Two great cycle routes start from your door - High Street and the Garburn Pass.
Local Gems:Queen’s Head pub for great food.

“If you want a great holiday lodge, look no further”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jinnyspinner. The lodge and its facilities were excellent, lots of videos for evening viewing with a relaxing glass of wine, and literature on ideas of what to do.
The park was brilliant, with walks from the park for us and Holly our dog, who really enjoyed playing with other doggy friends in the dog field. The site was lovely and quiet, and the lodge was very private, not overlooked, which was just what we wanted. For families it would be brilliant, as the children’s playground was excellent and the river pool nice and shallow. The lodge had a wide range of videos and books for children as well as adults.
The Haybarn was great for a stroll up for a drink in the evening, very cosy with a nice relaxing atmosphere. We would recommend the lodge and will be visiting again in the future.
The lodge had everything you would need for a great holiday and is a great base for touring the South Lakes.
Local Gems:The Queen’s Head’s food was fantastic - well worth a visit

“A wonderful, peaceful hidden gem that can be as fun-packed or as quiet as you’d like it to be”
The first thing that we were absolutely thrilled with was the beautiful and peaceful surroundings that Jinnyspinner is situated in. The lodge looks right on to Troutbeck and beautiful scenery. We sat on the decking at every opportunity.
The lodge was wonderfully clean and no remnants of previous doggie visitors. It was on the whole very well equipped. The only slight thing we missed was the use of a freezer. Patio doors open onto the decking which meant we could enjoy the alluring surroundings as long as possible
Beds are very comfortable, especially in the main bedroom. Plenty of hanging space.
No phone signal but can get it just at the entrance to Limefitt itself. Never had a problem when using Wi-Fi in the lodge.
Booking was easy and thorough ensuring our holiday went with no hitches. Lovely touches being an e-card and text wishing us a nice holiday, which we did.
We have already recommended this lodge and Limefitt Park to our friends and family and look forward to returning.
Limefitt Park itself is surrounded by beautiful scenery and walks. The lodge is in a quiet corner but all only less than a 10 minute drive to Windermere. Perfect!
Worth taking a look at the visitor book and recommendation file in the lodge for some possible ideas of where to visit, eat, etc
Our dog had a slight problem when on the kitchen-dining area floor - walking was absolutely fine but running or playing was very slippy for him. This wasn’t too much of a problem as we did a lot of walking, but worth a note of caution.
Local Gems:Buttermere is a 1 hour 20 min drive away, but well worth the drive (and some steep road climbs). A low-level walk around the lake takes about 2 and a half hours with a delicious home-made ice cream treat at the end. The only difficult thing is choosing which flavour!

“This one is a little gem!”
This cabin was well described in the brochure and met our needs perfectly. There was enough room for our family of four and my parents without feeling on top of each other.
The site was more than enough for us - the river pool was the best thing my boys had ever seen and my eldest had to go in every day for at least a paddle!
We weren’t bothered by the rain - it is The Lakes after all! - and came well prepared with waterproofs and boots.
The cabin is very well equipped - I can’t believe they even had Lego - and clean. Every chance we had we ate out on the deck because it was so nice to be close to the river.
This is a well-run affair right from the start of the booking process and a great place for families who like easy-going outdoor holidays!
It’s a peaceful, beautiful spot...
Local Gems:Helm Crag is a perfect first mountain for little walkers.
Rydal Water has good paddling potential.
