“Excellent for young families or for couples to enjoy a relaxing break”

The property was very clean on arrival and very modern. The easy-to-control heating system was marvellous on the cold days and nights.

The pub on site was child-friendly and was very nice and the kids also enjoyed the park and playing fields.

The site was quiet which helped us to relax. We have already recommended the property to friends and family

Specifically Recommend:

The on-site pub delivers good food

Local Gems:

Children loved the steam engine at Haverthwaite and then the boat to Bowness.

“Relaxing, fantastic quality and location, ideal family break. You won’t be disappointed!!”

We had an amazing time! Thank you! Lodge perfect in every way, lots of space and very comfortable. Layout fab, everything we could have needed was supplied even tin foil, loo roll, handwash etc. Travel cot supplied was great quality - our youngest slept the best he had in ages!

We experienced all weathers, arriving it was pretty cold so we explored the site and play area which our six year old loved. It’s fenced in too which was great to let our one year old run around.

Although it was March I sat outside wrapped up with a cup of tea and watched the sun set from the decked area. The next day we woke up to snow which gave a beautiful view! Incredible surroundings, so peaceful, yet only a short 10 minute drive into Windermere.

Lots of leaflets and guides in games cupboard along with DVDs and games, lovely extra! We all loved the Haybarn Pub on site - very family accommodating. We had a lovely couple of nights playing pool, giant Jenga and giant Connect 4 in a lovely cottage room with big fires, friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Kids loved the games room which had a few bandits, teddy machines and dance game.

Specifically Recommend:

All in all a fab family break to recharge, thank you for having us!

Local Gems:

Haybarn for close-by food and relaxed drinks

Booths supermarket behind Windermere train station, or there is a Spar at the petrol station as you turn right out of the lane Limefitt is on, instead of left to Windemere.

A trip to Ducky’s Park Farm was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Wellies were on as we went on a farm trail, got followed by an old Billy goat, kids played on an old double decker bus that is used for picnics, big indoor playbarn (all included in admission which was around 15 GBP for all four of us due to time of year!) Cafe and bar inside.

Lakes Aquarium worth a visit for young kids, right next to the lake so lovely views and able to take the boat trip instead of driving over.

En Route:

As we are from Cheshire, we stopped at Blackpool on our way up as our six year old loves the 2p arcade machines!!

“We will book again!”

Although it was our first time in Windermere, when we arrived at Limefitt, we were at once made welcome at reception.

We then went to our lodge..... we opened the door to a lovely clean, warm, lodge. There was complimentary tea and coffee, which was welcome.

After only four nights we felt more relaxed than we have for a long time. We cannot say how much we enjoyed our stay.
Thank you.

Specifically Recommend:

The Haybarn - food was very good indeed. Only downside there is the steep slope, but once inside the welcome again was lovely.

Summary:

“Striding Edge is a little gem set in a very picturesque area of the Lake District”

This being my first stay in the Lake District, I was a bit nervous that my expectations wouldn’t be met. How wrong could I be!

The cabin itself is a little gem, with everything you need and more. Troutbeck Valley is a very tranquil and ideal location to base yourself for walking and visiting all the lakeside attractions.

Can’t wait to go back.

Specifically Recommend:

Lake District Lodge Holidays were extremely helpful and cannot recommend them enough. Definitely have the personal touch.

Local Gems:

A visit to the Hay Barn pub on Limefitt site itself and the Mortal Man, not too far away, are a must.

“A Great Stress-Reliever”

Our first visit to the Lake District and what a great experience it was.

We were very lucky with the weather but the facilities at Limefitt Park and the lodge Striding Edge would have made a rainy day pleasant anyway.

It is a great base for visiting other areas or it is just a wonderfully relaxing place with great views to just sit on the balcony and take time out to unwind from life.

Specifically Recommend:

A lovely place to unwind and to use as a base for visiting the area.

Local Gems:

Ambleside is lovely.

Summary:

“Ideal Lakeland Escape, can’t get enough of it !.”

Striding Edge far excelled our expectations. Beautiful tranquil surroundings, peaceful and perfect location, we could not have wished for more.

It was great being able to start a walk straight from your door. Weather was great so we were able to make use of the patio table and chairs on the extra large decking area around the lodge.

All the little extras ie. washing-up liquid, toilet roll, towels, tea-towels, kitchen roll, hand soap etc were an added bonus.

There were just the two of us but the lodge will comfortably accommodate four adults, or two adults with two children, without being on top of each other.

Specifically Recommend:

Just immerse yourselves in the Lakes and walk a hill, take in the views of the spectacular scenery, shop, and just be a tourist. Become part of what is there for a few days.

Local Gems:

We are regular visitors to the Lake District and would recommend visiting Keswick, Grasmere, Ambleside, Ullswater, Windermere and Coniston.

If you fancy going further afield try Borrowdale and Buttermere.

The Mortal Man and Queen’s Head in Troutbeck are good.

Dungeon Gill in Langdale is a must visit.

Whilst in Keswick visit George Fishers shop in the old Abrahams photography building.

En Route:

Our regular stop en-route is Kendal, which is a small market town

“Brilliant”

The lodge was absolutely beautiful. Clean, tidy and spacious.

We were thrilled with the amenities provided and could have easily stayed a lot longer. The barbecue was a particular favourite.

It was great exploring the surrounding area, the lodge was central to so many places we were spoilt for choice.

An absolute 100 per cent enjoyable weekend.

“Brilliant, everything you could ask for!!!”

During our stay we received really good customer service all of the way through from enquiring about the booking to the end of our stay.

Unfortunately I had left a pair of boots in the cabin. They were returned to me within a week of leaving the lodge which I was very grateful for as a lot of places would not have been so kind as to return them.

Overall a lovely holiday and a lovely location. One of the nicest places that I have stayed!!!!!

Local Gems:

The Haybarn was very nice for food.

Bowness on Windermere is worth a visit and so is Ambleside.

Summary:

“A lovely place for a nice quiet relaxing break”

On arrival at Striding Edge the lodge was nice and clean and tidy. The lodge has all the modern amenities you will need inc. microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and barbecue which sadly, due to the weather, we were unable to use.

The lodge park itself is set in lovely surroundings and is ideal for a quiet, relaxing break. A nice pub-restaurant on site (Haybarn Inn) provides a good selection of beers and spirits. We ate here on a couple of occasions and although the meals were very nice the menu is a bit limited. We tried some local restaurants of which the Mortal Man was our favourite (just a five minute drive into Troutbeck but be aware the journey will certainly test your driving skills particularly in the dark!)

All in all we had a lovely break at Limefitt Park and will hopefully return.

Specifically Recommend:

I specifically recommend brushing up on your driving skills as driving around can be a challenge on the narrow, winding, hilly roads but the stunning scenery makes it worthwhile!

Be Aware:

The only small negative is the poor mobile phone reception on the site, but there is a payphone in the reception if you need to make an urgent call

Local Gems:

Grasmere village approx 20 mins drive is worth a visit for a nice walk around the village which includes Wordsworth’s home and burial place.

We also enjoyed the Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness.

“Perfect lodge set in an ideal location, very quiet and relaxing with plenty for the kids to play on. Five minutes from Windermere and 10 minutes to Ambleside”

Excellent lodge, and Limefitt is one of the most relaxing sites we’ve been to. Five minutes from Windermere-Bowness, for shopping and some lovely restaurants.

The lodge has all the modern utilities you need - flat screen wall-mounted TV, DVD, dishwasher, microwave, gas BBQ, lovely large decked area with seating and table parasol. The bedroom has a nice en-suite, large double (comfy) bed.

The park has a really nice stream area that widens into a (shallow) riverpool, enclosed play area, picnic area, small football pitch, volleyball net, tennis net.

Two minutes away by car are a couple of very nice places to eat or you are five minutes from Bowness-Windermere.

We will be returning again

Specifically Recommend:

That you remember there is no such thing as bad weather in the Lakes, just a wrong choice of clothing!

Local Gems:

The Watermill pub in Ings, five minutes from Windermere.

Village Inn, Bowness - both very good.

If you want to hire a motor boat go to Bowness - it’s GBP 18 for an hour, rather than half an hour elsewhere.

En Route:

The Watermill in Ings, five minutes before getting to Windermere

The accommodation more than met our expectations. Very clean and in good condition.

The location was brilliant with a good view of the area from all sides.
