“A very beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped cottage with the bonus of a hot tub”
We were thrilled with this lovely old house which is beautifully furnished and decorated, and extremely well equipped. I expected the cottage to be small but it was ample for four of us, with a large downstairs sitting area and kitchen, and a second small sitting room on the landing which the teens enjoyed.
Most of all we all adored the hot tub, which we didn’t consider a priority before booking, but will in future! It’s wonderful in all weathers.
The hosts are very helpful and friendly but not at all intrusive, and you feel very private despite being surrounded by farm buildings. There were many thoughtful touches such as a tea tray with cakes, and fresh flowers on the table. The kitchen was one of the best equipped we’ve ever found in a holiday cottage.
The hot tub!
Be Aware:Guests should be aware that the stairs are very steep and also that the property is in a rural rather than a village location - you couldn’t easily walk to a pub or shop. But there is beautiful scenery all around and you hardly feel like going anywhere when its such a lovely place to cook, eat and relax in.
Local Gems:The Henrhyd waterfall nearby and, if you have time, a trip to the Gower Peninsula - try the Coalhouse Restaurant on Oxwich Bay.
For supplies, there are two large supermarkets a few minutes’ drive away on the road to Swansea.
Abergavenny has many good restaurants including the Walnut Tree and the Llansantffraed Court Hotel.

“A lovely restful weekend. ”
We had a great time at Hen Glyn. The welcome was warm, though we were a bit late in arriving, and the iPhone meant the house wasn’t hard to find.
The house itself is great, spotlessly clean, warm and cosy with a well equipped kitchen. We walked and read. Wood burner kept us occupied and the hot tub proved very helpful with post walk aches... I’d recommend to anyone.
Would recommend to....Walkers. Readers.
Local Gems:Walks from the house straight up the common - we didn’t see a soul.
En Route:The Walnut Tree near Abergavenny.
Good butchers and a Waitrose in Abergavenny also.

“Luxury hot tub relaxation - bliss in the Brecons!”
Got this as a suprise for my girlfriend after a heavy weekend away and it was perfect!
A lovely warm welcome by Jennifer when we arrived, showed us all we needed and then left us to get on with it.
A beautiful little listed cottage well decorated in a lovely little spot on a farm. Great views of the Beacons with loads of great walks nearby. The hot tub really does make it! Excellent - will re-visit.
If you want to be active as well as totally relax....perfect!!
Local Gems:Plenty to get on with, the walks were breathtaking, take your pick!!
Loads of castles and history nearby

“Excellent cosy cottage - highly recommended!!”
Excellent, cosy, fully-equipped cottage with a fantastic hot-tub. Situated in a very quiet location, close to the hills for walking.
Log-burner central heating, under-floor heating in the bathroom we didn’t expect! Fresh flowers, Welsh cakes etc - on arrival was a lovely touch.
Spotlessly clean and tidy. Hosts really helpful and welcoming, on hand if you needed them, but not intrusive!
Would definitely like to return to soak up the peace and quiet!
Follow instructions very carefully, don’t rely on a sat nav - you could get stuck!!
Be Aware:Slight drawback, very steep stairs, probably not ideal for less mobile.
Local Gems:Pen-Y-Cae Inn has amazing food, not cheap, but well worth it!
(Brecon Rd, Penycae, Swansea - www.penycaeinn.com)
Also Abercrave Inn, more affordable pub food - advisable to book Fridays and Saturdays.

“A gem not to be missed”
Wow, what a gem of a place. Situated on a working farm - not that you would know it apart from the lambs - it was quiet and peaceful.
We listened to the cuckoo in the mornings and watched the lambs, jays and woodpeckers during the day whilst eating lunch, and then sat watching the swallows and stars whilst laying in the hot tub.
Great location - close to do the Fan Dance and other great walks. Owners Jennifer and David were great and made us feel so welcome.
All the amenities you need, we never turned on the TV whilst there, just enjoyed the area, the champagne and the wood-burning fire.
Will be going back and would recommend this place to anyone, it can sleep four - one double, two singles - and has bits for the kids (games, books, play station etc etc).
Peace, quiet, wood-burning fire and the hot tub
Local Gems:Pen y Fan.
The reservoir walk and views from the top

Owner’s Reply:Please note - Hen Glyn is set on a working farm. Very steep stairs to bedrooms (gate at top)
