Summary:

“Waterside Lodge is all you need for the perfect Lakeland holiday, you can’t fail to relax here”

We enjoyed our second fabulous stay at the Lodge this year. It’s so welcoming, homely and spotlessly clean! We don ’ t have a dog (yet!) but there were no smells or other from previous four legged visitors. I usually begin our holidays with cleaning wherever we are staying, but no need to here - immediate chill out!

It’s very thoughtfully decorated with lovely photos of Lakeland gems, has lovely linen and towels and you want for nothing in the kitchen. The Lodge also has excellent TV and Wi-Fi facilities.

The location is about perfect, right on the Beck with two grazing horses to watch in the field opposite. The location is very handy for Ambleside and Windermere, but in this quieter Troutbeck area is excellent for real peace and quiet.

We love the outdoors and this is a great base for walking and cycling and generally exploring the mountains and lakes. Our 10 year old daughter had a wonderful time and I let her ride freely around the site on her bike without too much concern about her safety.

The only disappointment this time was the site Haybarn Pub (which is very pleasant) ran out of cask beer and didn’t know when their next delivery was coming!! Fortunately there are alternatives locally.

Specifically Recommend:

Use the free access to the leisure facility on the main Ambleside Road. It’s very nice, has an outside hot tub (which is interesting in the rain) and cheerful pool which always seems to have a roped off lane for a quick fitness swim. (Good for rainy days).

The filling station Spar on the Ambleside Road is well stocked and reasonably priced.

Local Gems:

The Queen’s Head - full of real character excellent beer and gorgeous homemade lemonade. Now accessed from Limefitt by a nifty public footpath through the field next to the road.

Treetops - high ropes at Brockhole. My daughter adored it....

Beatrix Potter Museum - surprisingly interesting, especially for a rainy day. (Good for kids).

A circular walk up Dove Cragg - for a sunny day!

En Route:

Only travelled from Cheshire so no need to stop on the way... too eager to arrive!

“Relax or Play in the beautiful Limefitt Park”

Just returned from our three day stay at Waterside. It felt like a quaint Austrian log cabin. Absolutely immaculate and had everything you could possibly need.

The views were beautiful with the river running past which we found very soothing. The surroundings were very peaceful.

We did not have a dog and my concern was that there could have been smells of previous dogs or hairs but the place was spotless.

We would not hesitate to come back.

Specifically Recommend:

This lodge would be suitable for couples, families or individuals of any age groups and with or without dogs.

Be Aware:

The only negative was the close proximity of the other lodging but as we were not in our lodge most of the time it was not really a problem

Local Gems:

A family group of us (25 total) ranging from age 3 to 65 did a 10 mile circular which took you to a Cathedral Cave but you do have to climb rocks to get to it and take torches. We are in our 50s and managed it. Then into Elterwater and a well earned stop for refreshments at The Three Shires.

“Peaceful and relaxing get away!”

We went to stay at the Waterside lodge for a relaxing few days, and we’ve just returned home fully chilled out! The lodge itself is a home-from-home, very cosy and had a lovely homely feel. I was extremely pleased at the standard of cleanliness - immaculate. Loads to do in the lodge also - board games, DVDs, use of wi-fi.

My husband and I fell asleep listening to the stream outside - wonderful. The location of the lodge was great - very peaceful and calm. There are three pubs within walking distance which was ideal.

I would recommend this lodge to families and couples who are looking to stay in the Lake District. Dog owners were also very welcome.

Specifically Recommend:

No mobile phone signal except for Vodafone - which was a plus for us!!

Local Gems:

Queens Head - tasty food and romantic atmosphere.

Fun boat ride on the lake.

“A great place to stay amongst fantastic scenery.”

Even though it was a dog-friendly lodge, we instantly noticed how clean it looked (and smelt) when we first walked in.

A beautiful location on a well kept and friendly site. A very relaxing feel around the lodge and site. Close to Windermere and Ambleside yet in a quiet location.

We’d definitely recommend it to families, couples of all ages and anyone wanting to take a well-behaved dog. Even the dog walking field was well kept but there were some nice natural dog walks from the site.

Specifically Recommend:

For anyone who likes the outdoors, great scenery and a friendly site.

“What a corker! MIMO”

This lodge is outstanding value for money. The setting is superb the facilities are first class - broadband, smart TV, all the entertainment you could require should the weather be unkind.

The lodge was spotlessly clean, and is the best we have ever stayed in. As a bonus our dogs were welcomed to stay too.

Specifically Recommend:

Would recommend sitting on the patio on a lovely evening with a bottle (or two) of wine listening to the waters of the beck in the background.

All the local pubs are good value for money and are really dog-friendly

“Had a great time and the dogs loved it too!”

We had a great time at Waterside Lodge even though the weather was very changable, sun through to snow. The lodge was comfortable, very well equipped and had a great modern bathroom.

We enjoyed sitting on the decking overlooking the stream and the dogs played around us as the deck is very secure.

We were amazed to see deer on the site and one night we even saw a badger! We hope to return soon.

Lodge is very compact, well furnished with quality furnishings, comfortable and clean with every facility we could want. The information folder was extremely comprehensive and the local information provided (walks etc) very useful.

I have two dogs who absolutely loved being able to trot around the verandah whenever they wished - there was even a clean water bowl left outside for them which we thought was a nice touch.

Limefitt Park site was clean and well cared for with good facilities for families. Very dog-friendly, all staff that we encountered were helpful and friendly.

Great location for travelling around The Lakes, one pub on site and two more within walking distance - all good ale and food and very dog-friendly.

Apart from Waterside Lodge itself I would recommend the Mortal Man Inn

From beginning to end we found the communication with Mark excellent. The location of the lodge was set in fantastic surroundings and was a great place to unwind and relax in the peace and quiet of the park.

Summary:

“Stunning Lodge Holiday in a Stunning Location!”

The booking process was so easy, and Mark Holdcroft (Lake District Lodge Holidays) was so helpful. When we first enquired Mark said that he would send us all the information that we would need about the lodge itself and that he did. We immediately booked, and the whole process was so fast.

When we arrived at Waterside Lodge it far outshone our expectations. There was everything in the lodge we could ever need and more. It was immaculately clean, in a stunning location and it’s got its own privacy as well. There was nothing better than sitting on the decking, no matter what time of day, listening to Troutbeck flow by. It was just so peaceful.

Limefitt Park is in a stunning location itself, very central to everywhere we wanted to visit. The reception has a well stocked shop, the park itself is very well kept but unfortuantely can’t comment on the Haybarn Pub as we didn’t have time to go in there! As we said above, in our eyes there really is no room for improvement, as it’s such a lovely lodge, in a wonderful location.

We recommend a drive up the Kirkstone Pass in the direction of Ullswater (turn right out of the park), the views are simply breathtaking.

Bowness has some lovely little shops as does Keswick. Grasmere is a pretty little village and the gingerbread is out of this world!

A short trip down the western end of Windermere is worth a visit to Lakeside, where there is a steam railway, an aquarium and a motor museum.

The Queen’s Head pub, 2 minutes from the park (turn right out of the park again) is a lovely place, however a bit pricey, but the food was lovely.

Thank you Mark and Paula for a wonderful first visit to the Lakes (our honeymoon as well!) your lodge is a real home from home. We will definitely be back!

Specifically Recommend:

We specifically recommend Waterside Lodge to anyone who wants a holiday of pure peace and tranquility in wonderful surroundings but still close enough to discover the Lakes.

Local Gems:

Local Gems have to be the Aira Force waterfall, (a circular walk around a wooded National Trust area.

We also enjoyed the Motor Museum at Lakeside as well as the Aquarium.

Booths supermarket in Windermere is also brilliant. It has everything you could need from a few essentials to a weekly shop! The winner of all has to be the Kirkstone Pass drive for us. We were lucky enough to go there on a sunny day and a rainy day and the views were still as breathtaking!

The perfect idyllic retreat. Spotlessly clean on a beautiful site. The lodge itself catered for everyone, even providing DVDs for those that wanted them.

Things to do could be found within three or four miles of the lodge and, thanks to the book provided by the owners, an endless list of excursions could be taken if you felt the urge.

A lovely shop on site catered for essential items and the morning paper, which could be read whilst sat on the patio decking with the stream meandering alongside. Need I say more..... Fully recommended to anyone wanting to visit The Lakes.

“Cannot recommend the cabin enough. Great for dog owners. We will be back!”

This was our second visit and we were just as delighted with the cabin as the first time. Mark could not be more helpful.

The lodge is immaculately clean, very well equipped (everything has been thought of) and in a great location.

It’s just a short drive to Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside where you can find a good selection of eateries, shops and tourist facilities.

A first class cabin with first class service.

Specifically Recommend:

We used the Langdale Hotel leisure facilites in 2011 (very nice but a bit further away) and the Old England Hotel in Bowness this year (18GBP for a 3 day pass for non-guests).

Booths supermarket in Windermere has a good choice.

Local Gems:

Jintana Thai in Bowness is very good.

The on-site restaurant provides good pub-grub if you don’t fancy driving somewhere.

“Idyllic lodge, perfect setting ... you’ll want to go back!”

The lodge is perfect in every way, overlooking Troutbeck river it couldn’t be more picturesque. It is immaculately kept and everything is supplied, from loo roll to WiFi - Mark and Paula have thought of everything you could possibly need!

It’s beautifully warm on a cold night (and in Nov-Dec that’s a real bonus!). The park itself is very well kept and the little shop is very handy. We ate in the Haybarn Inn within the park and the food and service was fab.

We will certainly be returning and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Waterside Lodge - it really is the perfect retreat.

Shhhh - don’t tell everyone or it will be fully booked before you know it!!

Specifically Recommend:

The Haybarn Inn - great food (& Sky sports for the men!)

Catching a boat across Windemere to Ambleside.

The Ambleside waterfall - a short woodland walk close to the town.

“What can I say . . . Perfect!”

Waterside Lodge is situated in a beautiful area overlooking Trout Beck. Lovely view into the field opposite which has two horses in the evenings. The lodge is exceptionally clean with everything you could want, from the small touches like handwash, to a BBQ!

The owners make you feel quite special - not like any old customers! The booking process is easy and the owners give plenty of information on the lodge and surrounding area, they even sent an email to wish us a great stay!

Loved the fact the lodge, the park and the local pubs were dog-friendly! Definitely would recommend this place to dog owners!

The area is great for walking or just sitting taking in the scenery from a local pub!

We will definitely go back!

Specifically Recommend:

The Haybarn Inn - on the park.

The pony trekking - situated next door to the park.

“Tranquil setting in the most idyllic location, a great place to recharge your batteries or wear yourself out on stunning walks and adventures”

This is one of many visits we have made to Waterside Lodge and every time we enjoy it more and more. We had another fabulous stay and scorching temperatures to take full advantage of the new decking extension to the lodge, and to lap up the gorgeous sunshine and enjoy a BBQ whilst watching the horses graze on the other side of the Beck.

The log cabin is well equipped and has a brilliant shower which is great after a long walk or active day.

It’s brilliant for dog owners and the park is extremely dog-friendly with a good dog field to run your canine companion off the lead.

Being an expectant mother I was more than comfortable in the cabin and hope to take our new arrival on his first trip to the log cabin next year.

Specifically Recommend:

A brilliant base to stay for exploring the whole of the Lakes.
Book up early as it is extremely popular.
The Beatrix Potter Centre is a great visit especially with kids - it’s a magical wonderland and very cute.

Local Gems:

The Queen’s Head is a must and make sure you visit Keswick, in particular the Derwent Water Lake as it’s absolutely stunning.

“Counting the days to our next visit!”

The lodge is in a wonderful setting with the balcony overlooking the beck (fantastic water feature)! Loved sitting on the balcony listening to the babbling beck, watching the Dippers in the water, the Nuthatches in the nearby tress, and Buzzards flying and calling overhead.

The balcony is lovely for toast in the mornings (and bread for the ducks), also is beautiful in the evenings for relaxing with a glass of wine (or three).

Ideal base for exploring a beautiful part of the Lake District. A well equipped lodge. Comfy and cosy, it has everything you need.

“Stunning Lodge in a stunning location. If you are looking for a self-catering holiday in the Lake District, look no further than Waterside Lodge.”

An absolutely stunning Lodge in a perfect location! We have just returned from a wonderful few days at Waterside Lodge and are already searching our diaries for another opportunity to go back!

We have stayed in numerous lodges around the country and Waterside Lodge far exceeds anything we have experienced before.

From the moment we decided to book this holiday the whole experience has been a delight. Booking was very easy and straightforward and the communication process with the owners, Mark and Paula, was very welcoming.

The lodge itself was immaculately presented, and is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The bedding and towels are of very good quality, as is the entire decor of the lodge. Nothing has been left as ’that will do’.. a lot of thought and effort has gone into making this lodge a home from home.

The lodge is dog-friendly, which is great, but if, like us, you don’t have a dog, do not be put off, there is no sign whatsoever that dogs have ever been there.

All in all, this has been one of the best mini breaks away from home that we have ever had and we cannot recommend Waterside Lodge highly enough.

Specifically Recommend:

Whether you are looking for a base for walking or just a great place to relax and explore the National Park, this is it. You won’t be disappointed.

Local Gems:

The Haybarn on this site is very cosy and offers great food at very reasonable prices. We spent our first evening here and we were very impressed.

En Route:

Bowness and Ambleside are lovely little towns and both are just a few minutes’ drive away.

Tea rooms, outdoor shops, boat hire and strolls by the lake are all on offer.

Another very relaxing holiday.....We have not had a holiday for about 28 years due to my very busy business commitments but this is the second year we have returned, so this speaks volumes about the lodge.

Summary:

“Stunning location, peaceful and quiet - what more could anyone desire”

Having a particular liking for scenic locations as a base, this lodge met all of our expectations and needs. Situated by a stream and views of fields and horses what more could one ask for! Teamed with stunning location, a quiet and peaceful setting, it was ideal.

The lodge itself was clean and well furnished and was well supplied with everything one may need on a self catering holiday.

Although the lodge mainly catered for dog owners, don’t be put off if you, like us, do not have a dog. There was no sign that any pets had been there, with neither the usual doggy smell nor presence of hairs.

The owner of the lodge, Mark, called in whilst we were there so we were fortunate to have met him, and throughout our communication with him he couldn’t have been more helpful and polite.

Specifically Recommend:

Waterside Lodge is certainly in a convenient location to explore everything the Lakes has to offer. We visited at a particularly quiet period so Limefitt site was quiet, but we suspect that it really doesn’t change whatever time you visit.

There are lots of great eating places nearby, some a little pricey, others more basic and less expensive, so you can take your pick. Give Waterside Lodge a try, you wont be disappointed. We werent and well be back!

Local Gems:

Visit Hawkshead village, it’s a delight of cobbles, alleyways and stone cottages. Lots of tea rooms also!

Langdale is stunning with beautiful walks.

En Route:

Try the book shop at Sedbergh - it is where we always stop. It’s full of old and new books with literature related gifts. You can also have a coffee there.

“Wonderful time in The Lakes”

Limefitt Park is set in beautiful surroundings in the heart of the Lake District. We stayed in a very comfortable lodge which is suitable for families, couples, or any one that just needs a break to get away from it all!

We stayed for four nights with our Golden Retriever dog, Toby and he came back totally worn out after doing some of the beautiful walks in the surrounding district and beyond.

We look forward with anticipation for our return visit and would recommend this break to everyone.

“Clean, Comfortable, a real Home from Home”

One word.........WOW!! As soon as we walked through the door it felt like home, every possible thing you could need was at hand. A lot of thought has obviously gone into making this Lodge a home from home and it certainly ticks all the boxes.

The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, the bedding, towels, furniture is all good quality and not bought just to serve a purpose The shower (which is normally my pet gripe!!) was powerful, hot and clean.

The fact that this Lodge caters for dogs is a huge bonus, although if you’re a non-dog-owner please don’t let that put you off!

All in all a very relaxing few days, helped by wonderful weather, stunning scenery and real ale!!

Specifically Recommend:

If the weather’s good, make use of the BBQ, again everything (but the food) is supplied

Local Gems:

Booths Supermarket is fantastic selling local produce..... we normally eat out on holidays, but we cooked every night!!

Tarn Hows is breathtaking.

En Route:

“Beautiful cabin in a picture perfect location”

We were looking for a quiet stay in a beautiful location for my partner’s 40th birthday and weren’t disappointed. We stayed in March so the park was very quiet, the weather was very good for the time of year, (only rained one morning), perfect walking weather.

We were very impressed with the surroundings, a perfect mix of being near enough to amenities that you didn’t feel isolated but out enough that you had panoramic views of countryside.

Limefitt Park was lovely, the dog area was perfect and the local pub served really nice meals at very reasonable prices. The cabin was lovely - very well equipped, the only things we needed to take were toiletries as everything else was provided, it was like home-from-home.

As we were with our seven month old Labrador puppy we tended to stay quite local, but everywhere we went was dog-friendly. He absolutely loved it and would recommend it as a perfect holiday for anyone with dogs.

Specifically Recommend:

The steak at the Haybarn was lovely.

Cosy nights in the cabin by the fire with a glass of wine, bliss.

Local Gems:

Watching the deer on the walk to Ambleside was amazing.
