“An away-from-it-all break in peaceful and very scenic surroundings ”
Comfortably furnished, beautifully situated, extremely isolated, with only sheep for company - and lots of them!
The isolation has its cost in terms of the need to negotiate your way through SIX farm gates and down a bumpy farm track for a good half a mile - fine if you’ve got kids who think it’s fun and games to leap in and out of the car on gate duty! - may be a bit hairy in bad weather!
This cottage is extremely well equipped and comfortable. The heating is very efficient, which was great for a chilly autumn break - although when we lit the wood burner we didn’t need it
The area is stunning, Bala and the southern part of Snowdonia is a great base. We particularly liked the drive to Dolgellau, where there is a great coffee shop called TH Roberts, with free laptops & WiFi and lots of games for the kids and papers for the grown-ups.
Be Aware:Perhaps need to stress that the route to the cottage is a bit on the rough side, and in snowy or icy conditions I wonder whether a 4-wheel drive might be needed
The TV-Freeview-DVD combo was great, but it might be a good idea to provide instructions for those who don’t have teenage kids to work it out!
We travelled from the west country and stopped in Llangollen, which was much busier than expected on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of cafes and pubs, but tricky for parking
