“Beautiful Lodge in a stunning location. I loved all of it and was sad to leave! ”
This is a fantastic lodge set in an excellent location for those intending to enjoy the Lake District. We used the lodge for relaxation after we spent all day walking and climbing the surrounding fells and mountains.
The lodge was clean, comfortable and spacious. It’s close to the facilities and provided us with everything we needed for our stay.
We will definitely be back and we’ll be planning to take our dog next time when she’s strong enough for the walks.
There are great pubs close by and we recommend spending some time in Ambleside where you’ll find some great restaurants too.
We’d recommend Grasmere 1 Lodge to anyone who is planning to stay in the Lakes and enjoy the stunning surroundings.
The comfy sofas - ideal for relaxation after a massive 18 mile hike.
TV and Entertainment - provided us with all our favourite channels to watch in the morning and evenings in between our adventures.
Info pack - The details provided in the information pack in the lodge was very helpful.
Kitchen - very clean, spacious and included everything you need to make a cooked breakfast and dinner.
Bathroom - shower was very good - nice hot water and powerful.
Bedrooms - Three comfortable rooms and ideal for a family.
Completed the Fairfield Horseshoe walk. Very tiring but a great achievement. Only a few minutes away in the car.
Keswick only 20 minutes’ drive away and recommended for shopping and stunning surroundings.
Windermere town centre where we agreed to rendezvous with our friends. Had a nice pub lunch before checking into the Lodge.

“This is an absolutely fantastic place to stay for a family holiday. We were so sad to leave but hope to be staying there again soon”
We have just come back from a week’s holiday at Windermere Holiday Lodge in the Lake District. We booked the lodge direct with the owners, who were very friendly and professional.
This lodge is located on a beautiful park and as it is privately owned was decorated to a very high-standard throughout. It was also very clean, had loads of space, and had everything we needed for a great family holiday.
The lodge has a lovely open plan lounge-dinner-kitchen area with patio doors opening straight onto the decking area. The decking around the lodge is also safe and secure so we had no concerns about giving our dog some freedom and letting him wander in and out as he pleased!
We were lucky enough to have had brilliant weather whilst we were there and enjoyed relaxing and sun bathing on the decking and patio area.
Lake Windermere is only a few minutes’ stroll from the lodge also, and was a great place to cool down and splash about when things got too hot.
Bowness on Windermere and Ambleside are a couple of miles away in both directions from the holiday park and have some great places to visit, eat and drink.
We love taking our dog out with us and were quite surprised at how dog friendly the area is and how accommodating many of the pubs and cafes are.
We would certainly recommend staying at Grasmere 1, Windermere Holiday Lodge to anyone who is looking for a great family holiday in the Lake District.
Beautiful Lodge in a stunning location. I loved all of it and was sad to leave!
Our children were delighted that they stayed in the Beatrix Potter bedroom, and visited the Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere.
We all enjoyed the films and games that the owners provide.
Lake Windermere.
Pub at Ambleside called the Watersedge - great food and dog-friendly.
Stopped off at Glenridding near Ullswater.

“Brilliant lodge located in an excellent location. Will definitely be back next year and we would definitely recommend staying at this lodge - we will be!”
We’ve just got back from a fantastic holiday at Grasmere 1 Lodge at White Cross Bay Holiday Park. The lodge was very spacious, clean, tidy and had everything we needed for our stay.
We booked our holiday directly with the owners through their website - welovethelakes.com - and it could not have been easier. The owners were very friendly which made the booking a delight. As this is a privately owned Lodge, the owners also provided those extra little touches that make all the difference and it was great to wake up each day and have nature on your doorstep.
The lodge was very accurately described, if anything they sold themselves short in terms of the quality of the lodge and location.
The Lodge also has a beautiful balcony and decked area with a picnic table which was the perfect place for a morning coffee and a glass of wine on the evening!
Whilst it’s easy to have a relaxing time, we found that the park also had plenty for the kids including sports courts, play areas and a swimming pool. There is also a sauna and a gym for the grown ups.
It’s a self catering park, but there is a great pub and restaurant on site that has a great menu and of course Bowness and Ambleside are only a few minutes away in either direction with plentiful choice for all budgets and where you will also find lots of shops, places to eat and drink, family attractions and lots more. We wish we’d booked to stay longer, but it means that there’s still lots more to see and do next time we come.
We took our dog with us as well and he had a great stay also. There are loads of beautiful places to walk in the immediate area and White Cross Bay Holiday Park is very pet friendly and must have one of the best woodland walking areas of any park for dogs.
We will definitely be back next year and will definitely go back to this lodge!
Great Lodge in a great location, walks by the lakes or up the mountains for the more adventurous right from your doorstep - it doesn’t get any better. White Cross Bay also has a brilliant dog walk
Be Aware:Nothing - the owners have made this a great place to stay and we were very comfortable.
Local Gems:Loads of places in surrounding areas - Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windermere were our favourites
