“Y Gadlas is a brilliant place to stay to get away from it all or as a base to explore the relatively unspoilt Berwyn Mountains and surrounding area”
Y Gadlas is an eco-sensitive barn conversion, very cosy and well furnished. It is situated down a quiet and secluded lane with great views over the village which is a short walk away.
You can purchase basic provisions in the village store, there’s a nice pub and a couple of restaurants.
From the gate, forest walks where you’re never far from a stream or waterfall lead to longer routes through the Berwyn mountains and moorland. Denbighshire is also rich in Medieval and Celtic history with standing stones and churches within walking distance.
We loved our stay here, the property and location was perfect for a relaxing break, the village friendly and the wider area had plenty to see and do.
The tranquil forest walks with its streams and waterfalls.
Be Aware:This property is on a working farm so best for well behaved pets. The stairs are a little steep so families with toddlers might want to bring a baby gate.
Local Gems:St Trillos Church is in the best preserved area of the village, is 16c in origin but the huge yew tree in the grounds suggesting the site is much older.
En Route:We visited St Tysilio Church in LLantysilio near LLangollen. This is a small Medieval church situated next to the Horseshoe Falls. It’s surrounded by picturesque woods with picnic areas.

“A great place to be snowed in!”
Stunning views around the house especially as everything was deep in snow.
Lots of walks straight from the door so it didn’t matter that we were snowed-in.
House was well equipped and hosts very hospitable - helped us carry all our stuff up to the house in a wheelbarrow!
Had a great time despite the weather.
Location and views and general quietness of the area.
Be Aware:There is a steep slope up to the house which is impassable in snowy conditions but there is a lay-by nearby where you can park safely

“Delightful”
A delightful, cosy barn in a stunning location.
A fabulous deck at the back of the barn is built into the hillside - very original.
The barn is equipped with a superb selection of books, games and DVDs, catering for all ages and tastes.
The owners are lovely, unobtrusive but on hand if needed.
