“If you want to unwind in a quiet peaceful location this is the place. You can do as much or as little as you want - it has it all”

Had another lovely stay at Limefitt. The Lodge is wonderful, well-equipped and in a great location in the centre of the park.

Would recomend this gem to all dog owners who are looking for a relaxing holiday that they can bring their dogs - no kennel worries.

The surrounding area is great to explore by foot or in the car as their are plenty of places to stop and explore. I would reccomend this lodge to either people looking for a break away from it all or families with children - there are lots of places for them to run around and explore without any worries.

Specifically Recommend:

Walks from the site up to the Mortal Man Pub.

A pub called the Travellers Rest just past Grassmere - good food and a warm welcome

“Fantastic holiday with family and dog”

A fantastic lodge which is comfortable and very well equipped. This was the first time we have taken our 2 year old Labrador on holiday and he had a great time.

The site was immaculate and so was the lodge. What made our weekend even better is our relations from Lytham came with us. Uncle Donald had never gone anywhere since his stroke 9 years ago and he thoroughly enjoyed his weekend break as did we all. So much so we can’t wait to book again.

Well done to John and Linda on a fantastic holiday retreat. I would recommend this lodge to anyone looking for a relaxing tranquil holiday with all local attractions within easy reach.

Specifically Recommend:

Stay for as long as you can, really is home-from-home

“A beautiful lodge in a wonderful location which is great for families who want to take dogs”

The lodge we stayed at was beautiful. We had everything we needed as the lodge was well equipped with all we needed. The owners had carefully thought about the surrounding area and had left us a great welcome pack which included some great days out (even in the rain) and some wonderful pubs for evening meals.

The lodge was so lovely we had a few nights in, which we used the very modern kitchen to cook. The bedrooms were very spacious and had lots of storage. The beds were very comfortable and the lodge was very clean. The reason we chose this lodge was it was dog-friendly. We took our eight month German Shepherd with us and he loved sitting on the secure decking watching the world go by.

Limefit Park is great for a relaxing holiday and even better for dogs and children. The boys and dog spent a great afternoon in the beck. The on-site reception, shop and pub were friendly, well stocked and gave great customer service. We will be booking another holiday back at the lodge very soon.

Thank you John and Linda for your wonderful lodge x

You don’t need to take anything apart from your Wellies (it is The Lakes!)

Local Gems:

Mortal Man Inn served a great Sunday lunch.

The Hay Barn on site was great for a friendly drink which was also very dog-friendly.

Troutbeck View is a delightful lodge situated in a superb spot for walkers. The property is well equipped and very comfortable.

Several walks like those to Windermere and Ambleside are right on your doorstep. There’s no need to use the car if you don’t want to. The little shop on site has everything you need.

“Peaceful, relaxing stay.”

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Kingfisher Lodge, Limefitt Park, Troutbeck (Fri 28 Mar 2014 to Mon 31 Mar 2014)

We were warmly greeted by Yve at reception & within minutes we had all the info we needed to make our stay a success.

The lodge itself is very well equipped & had everything we needed for our stay, Its location right next to a stream beck is very peaceful & the park is within reach of many great walks, country pubs & a short drive or walk to nearby lakeland towns,

There is a field on site specifically for dogs to have some off-leash time, our dog loved to chill out here after a few hours of walking the fells & hills. He loved sniffing around the stream & trees. There are benches in the field so us humans can take in the fantastic views too.

There is also a children’s play area that all the kids seemed to love, with a small area of stream for paddeling.

All in all a very relaxing 3 day break, we will be back.

Specifically Recommend:

Walks, local pubs, peace & quiet.

“Warm, Comfortable, 5 Star Luxury!!”

Troutbeck View lodge is a jewel in the Lake District’s crown. Half of me wants to write a review so that people do not miss out on staying in 5 star luxury, but the other half wants to keep it a secret!

We booked a week in this lodge with our two year old Labrador and the lodge was the perfect size for the three of us. Normally a dog-friendly lodge would be a little older and run down but Troutbeck View lodge is a showhome in our opinion.

The lodge is warm, comfortable and has everything you could need for a self catering break. We followed the advice of John and Linda and ate out at the Mortal Man which did not disappoint, and the real ales on offer there were much appreciated after the four mile Wansfell Pike walk!!

The lodge has plenty of ideas for days out and walks you can do from the lodge’s front door. The owners have thought of everything and the personal touches they put into your break makes you feel like guests in their own home. The only thing they don’t do is come round and cook dinner!!

Specifically Recommend:

Take advantage of the walks that John and Linda have printed out for the guest book.

Eat out at both the Mortal Man and the Queen’s Head hotel. Both are within walking distance.

If you have a dog, use the dog field at the end of the park. It is fully enclosed and safe so you can let them run around off the lead

Local Gems:

Mortal Man - both for food and drink

Queen’s Head Hotel - both for food and drink

Walks - Wansfell Pike. Buttermere Lake, Elterwater Lake and Tarn

“5 Star Lodge in a beautiful location”

Troutbeck View is a beautiful, modern lodge in an excellent location. The lodge is provided with everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday, tastefully furnished and very comfortable.

John and Linda have thought of everything - they included a folder with lots of very useful local info and have even negotiated discounts for local attractions, shops and restaurants. We made use of the 20 GBP off Go Ape.

Limefitt Park has stunning views of the Lake District and is ideally located for walkers. There are great activities on site for children (adventure play ground, pony trekking). The on-site pub serves lovely food and has a huge games room.

Overall the lodge exceeded our expectations - 5 stars all round!

The lodge was such a pleasant surprise, the size was huge, the lodge was very clean and tidy, it did look brand new. The site was a lovely, quiet site with a large on-site public house which we frequented on a couple of nights.

Around and about are some beautiful places to visit, from lakes to waterfalls to castles. Can’t wait to return in the future.

Specifically Recommend:

Try The Mortal Man for excellent food, a short walk away

Local Gems:

Aira Falls about 8 miles away.

Kendal Castle 12 miles away

“You will not regret booking this lodge!!”

Exceptionally well-maintained lodge. All requirements catered for - kitchen had everything you could possible need and then some.

Kids not forgotten with choice of DVDs, board games, books and PS2 games for entertainment. Beds, bedding and towels all of very high quality, no expense was spared on anything!!! The owners had really thought of everything....we will be going back.

Would recommend this to anyone with or without dogs. Limefitt Park is very well maintained and quiet, the on-site pub is good for pub grub etc.

An excellent all round site.

Specifically Recommend:

Would without a doubt recommend this to other potential guests

“Troutbeck View lodge holiday, an AMAZING experience!”

We have just returned from our five day break at Troutbeck View Lodge. The lodge was absolutely amazing, beautifully designed and set in wonderful scenic views of Limefitt Park.

It was home-from-home. Everything had been thought of. Our girls enjoyed the river pool also.

We were able to take our two Yorkshire Terriers, which also made our holiday complete. We will definitely be returning and recommending this lodge to our friends.

Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Specifically Recommend:

The Haybarn menu was basic, but food was excellent.

Local Gems:

South Lakes Wild Animal Park was amazing, a really lovely day out. (www.wildanimalpark.co.uk)

The illusions museum at Keswick (www.puzzlingplace.co.uk) was also worth a visit and not badly priced either - (good for a wet half day)

“Best Holiday EVER!! Cannot wait to come back and do it all again!”

We had an absolutely amazing time in our short stay. Location fantastic, only a five minute drive from Bowness on Lake Windermere, where there is loads to see and do.

The property itself was beautiful, very comfortable and felt right at home! The park was quiet and relaxing with amazing views and plenty of lovely walks to enjoy with our dogs.

Fantastic park and play area which the kids loved, and the river pool looked great although we didn’t get a chance to make use of it.

Everyone was extremely friendly and we did not want to leave, will definitely be booking up again very soon, that’s if there is any availability left as I would imagine everyone who has ever visited and stayed here will be having the same idea! Great holiday!

Specifically Recommend:

Everything!! The whole place was fantastic!

Summary:

“Troutbeck View Lodge is supremely equipped and comfortable which enabled us to have a relaxing and enjoyable, if brief, holiday in unrivalled surroundings”

Troutbeck View Lodge was wonderfully equipped and comfortable - a real home-from-home. The fixtures and fittings were of a very high standard and the lodge was spacious and very comfortable. Fabulous 40 inch TV, music system, DVD player and a Playstation 2 console with many games provided ensured no-one could be bored! Everything we needed was there in abundance.

The fully enclosed decking area around the lodge was fantastic and enabled our dog to pop out for some fresh air and watch the world go by at will.

The site was well cared for and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The facilities are good with plentiful opportunity for having fun simply and cheaply. A football field, pony trekking, play pool in the river and an enclosed dog field where your pet can run and play off lead were all fantastic.

Limefitt Park is just a short drive from Windermere & Bowness, or visitors can venture north over Kirkstone Pass to Ullswater, a lovely drive with superb views.

Specifically Recommend:

The lodge!

Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole - free facilities although there is a charge for parking

Booths supermarket in Windermere for a great variety of quality foods

Driving in the locality, stopping for refreshments and enjoying wonderful views along the way

Bowness, although busy, is great for shopping, taking a boat trip or just strolling around the lake area

Plentiful and wonderful walks on your doorstep

Be Aware:

The on-site shop only carries some basic provisions so you might want to bring your own from home or stop off at Booths supermarket in Windermere on your way in.

Local Gems:

Booths supermarket supply a range of chef-prepared meals which are then simply frozen and ready to cook!

Summary:

“We had a fantastic time and we had no cause to complain about anything... Maybe the rain on the first day perhaps....”

The Lodge is situated on a corner plot with parking for two cars beside the very quiet road which runs from the reception through to the top of the park where the launderette and pub-restaurant is located. There were so few cars on the road when we were there it made no impression on our stay.

The views from the lodge were mainly across the valley and what great views they were. If anything, it surpassed the advert description - the main bedroom en-suite added a ’wow’ factor because we didn’t expect it. The interior of the lodge is of the highest quality. The living area is to the left and opens up into an open-plan space with a large 40 inch LCD TV in the left hand quarter of the room, with a DVD player and a good selection of DVDs provided. A leather suite and a coffee table provides a comfortable area to relax.

To the right and just behind the living area is a large family dining table which seats six comfortably. The modern and well-equipped kitchen is located just on the right as you enter the room. The main bathroom has a bath and shower combination is very clean and has a towel radiator which we found a lot of uses for.

Opposite the main bathroom is the second bedroom with two single beds and substantial bedroom furniture. The main bedroom is located at the end of the short corridor and although not exceptionally large is just big enough with a king size and vanity unit and bedside cabinets either side with lamps. There are two very spacious wardrobes opposite each other in the short corridor between the bedroom and the en-suite. Again a good size bathroom with a corner shower instead of the bath.

The overall accommodation is very clean, modern and top quality appliances from the modern TV to the dishwasher and cooker. Not one thing disappointed us with the Lodge.

The surroundings are well looked after by a busy team of staff who are all friendly and helpful. There is a shop in the main reception and the pub-restaurant provides a nice meal for a price comparable to most city pubs and not over inflated prices you usually find in tourist areas.

Could Provide.....
Nothing. We had a great time and absolutely nothing spoiled it.The owners really thought of everything even down to a manual which explains how to use the boiler and dishwasher.

Specifically Recommend:

I would recommend guests to try the on-site pub-restaurant before other local places.

Everyone should try the walk up the path behind the pub-restaurant because the views are terrific, you meet lots of friendly people and, if you go far enough, you can see Windermere quite easily in the distance.

Get out and explore...Limefitt Park is ideally situated and is only a few miles from Windermere and Ambleside. Ullswater is no more than 10-12 miles away so there is plenty to do.

Be Aware:

I cannot in all honesty think of anything we should make future guests aware of.

Local Gems:

The local church just outside Limefitt Park is a hidden gem. It is open during the day and is very interesting inside. It has a large beautiful stained glass window and is a very peaceful place to visit

Summary:

“Excellent - good family bonding experience from our busy lives”

Pristine accommodation, everything is brand new. I did not expect so many amenities in the cabin, and it was HUGE!

Views of mountains are breathtaking, for a holiday park, we did not feel cramped in. There is plenty of space between cabins, lots of trees. Nice neighbourhood for children to play and ride bikes. Everything was perfect.

Specifically Recommend:

Even on a rainy day, there is plenty to do.
Also, good TV, DVD system and game player available.

Be Aware:

Laundry facility is very close by.
If coming from M6 using SatNav, don’t turn onto single track road. Carry on to roundabout and take right as instructed by owners. We were on a single track road when a huge hay truck came our way. We had to reverse about quarter of a mile!

Local Gems:

I loved Booths supermarket next to the railroad station.
Also, just off Exit 36 of the M6 is a great farm shop!

En Route:

Travelling from the South on the M6, Morecambe Bay is worth a visit.
