Summary:

“So good we booked again for the summer.”

We wanted to visit the Bath Xmas market and preferred not to stay in town. This cottage-barn is fantastic, warm and cosy and so comfortable. The owners were kind and thoughtful and the level of their concern for guests is reflected in the standard of furnishings and equipment.

This is a comfortable, spacious holiday home, I would willingly live here. We found fresh flowers, a selection of teas, fresh eggs, tomatoes, milk, bread and butter.

The location is ideal for Bath, Wells and Street, all of which we visited. The Bath Christmas market was so busy, I’ve never seen so any people in Bath before, Wells is charming, lovely Christmas lights and Street has a shopping village and a thriving busy High Street full of independent shops.

We were here just two nights and loved it. I thoroughly recommend this holiday to anyone. My problem is that whilst I want people to know how fantastic it is, I don’t want to find it fully booked before I reserve my summer break.

Summary:

“A countryside retreat - ideal for families or for those wanting to visit Glastonbury without staying in the town”

The cottage is very comfortable, very large kitchen-open plan lounge. Lovely comfortable double bed. The kitchen is very well equipped, have not found anything missing! Lovely large cooker, and fridge. There is also a washing machine which is very practical for families having longer stays.

Kim also leaves a lovely basket full of goodies, among them fresh eggs from her own chickens. The area is lovely for bird watching, this is our second stay - the first time we saw herons every day, owls and starlings among others.

It is only a few miles outside Glastonbury and easy access to all the local attractions.

There is a garden with seats, and bikes in the sheds. I think this would be lovely for children, although would need to take care with the drainage channels and pond. Bathroom is downstairs

Specifically Recommend:

Great area for walking and bird watching

Take wellingtons and a jumper for evenings

TV-DVD player in lounge

Local Gems:

Great area for walking and bird watching

Kilver Court garden in Shepton Mallet, and Chalice Well garden in Glastonbury

Bishops Palace garden in Wells, which has a great cafe as well as the garden

Great cafes in Glastonbury

Glastonbury Extravaganza in August, very different from the pop festival!

Summary:

“A little gem with all the bells and whistles”

A lovely cottage with everything you could want for a cosy break, White Hart Barn is well equipped and in a great location halfway between Wells and Glastonbury.

There are plenty of walks from the doorstep but also lots to see and do in the area - Hayes Motor Museum being a winner with the males of the family. The Fleet Air Arm Museum was also impressive, as was the Clarks Outlet Village up the road at Street.

At Wells Farmers’ Market we found plenty of fabulous food to bring home and cook in the excellent kitchen area of the cottage, complete with a range-type cooker and Smeg fridge. Then it was on with the DVDs for a cosy night in front of the biggest TV we have ever watched with a bottle of wine for refreshment.

Specifically Recommend:

White Hart Barn is a beautiful two-bedroom cottage and we would recommend it to anyone.

Local Gems:

Wells, especially on Farmers’ Market day (Wednesday).
Hayes Motor Museum.
Fleet Air Arm Museum.
Frome.
Clarks Outlet Village at Street.
