“The whole family, from the youngest to the eldest, thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break”
The accommodation more than lived up to the description and photos on the web site. The Barn, in particular, made our family get-together very special. Having the large space for dining, game playing and just all being together, young and old, made all the difference.
A large farmhouse (7 bedrooms) and the cosy cottages are all very well furnished, with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Very clean and tastefully decorated. In a very pretty location surrounded by fields but a short stroll to the village. Nice large garden with swings and climbing equipment for younger children to play. Also a dog exercising area.
Recommend hire of The Barn for larger parties. However the Farmhouse does have a large kitchen and dining room with very large table.
The local villages all have pubs with very good food, most can be walked to on footpaths across the fields.
Carsington Water good for families
The public house at Kniveton good for food
The Red Lion at Hognaston good for food
After a long journey, lunch in the local pub at Kniveton prior to arriving at Standlow Farm for 3.30pm was very good indeed. Family fare.
