Sheriff Lodge is simply in a class of its own. From the moment of arrival to the point of departure. When we arrived we were greeted with a very warm welcome and an offer of tea and coffee. However it was not just tea and coffee, but wonderful homemade cakes as well!

Kate told us where to find everything, then asked if we were interested in anything in particular and gave very helpful recommendations. The room itself holds a well compiled and very comprehensive listing and details of attractions in and around the Derbyshire Dales. A lot of thought and effort has gone into this.

There is ample wardrobe and drawer space and an amazing emergency kit in case anything has been forgotten eg razor or suchlike. Simply let Kate or Alan know what has been used and they will replenish. The thoughtful touches are outstanding.

The bed was absolutely huge and extremely comfortable. It was nice to select a DVD from the collection in the Drawing Room and lie back and watch it in wonderful comfort.

The bathroom was beautiful, so spacious with the best bath ever! The hot water supply was endless - just as well given the size of the bath! The toiletries were lovely too.

Stay at Sheriff Lodge if only to experience the breakfast! Alan makes homemade bread every day and times it so that it is still warm when guests come down for breakfast. He cooks each breakfast according to what is wanted - any combination, plus the cereals, choice of fruit juices, porridge, and beautiful fresh fruit salad. This breakfast could not be bettered by the Ritz in my opinion!

To further add to the thoughtfulness and generosity of Kate and Alan, there is a fridge in the Drawing Room for use by guests, with complimentary soft drinks. Kate and Alan have gone to incredible lengths to consider every possible requirement of their guests. We cannot recommend Sheriff Lodge highly enough.

A beautiful property in a beautiful setting, and even better, a room designed specifically to be dog-friendly, to the extent it has a separate door to let the dog out to splash paws!

We were made to feel so welcome and were very sorry to leave. We cannot wait to return and look forward to taking our Springer Spaniel with us this time! Even the fussiest and pickiest of guests will fail to find fault with Sheriff Lodge!
