Summary:

“Extremely impressed”

Having spent four hours driving in blizzard conditions to get here, a journey which would normally take two hours, you can imagine I was not in the best of moods when we finally arrived at the lodge - stressed to bits and wishing we had stayed at home.

They say first impressions are the best, well I was amazed. This property is stunning and two minutes after walking through the door I had forgot all about the chew on we had to get here.

We have stayed in loads of lodges over the years and this one is up there with the best of them.

Extremely well fitted out, spotlessly clean, pictures on the web site don’t do it justice enough and the fact that Sue goes to the trouble of stocking some essentials in the cupboards just adds that finishing touch.

The park is situated at the bottom end of Kirkstone Pass and is surrounded by stunning countryside.

Would definitely come back.

Highly recommended.

Specifically Recommend:

Peace and quiet.

Excellent walks.

“Fantastic, once again”

This was our second stay in Fellwalker Lodge and once again we were not disappointed. The lodge is fantastic in every way, fully equipped with everything you need and so comfortable and cosy - we feel very much at home when we are there.

This time we didn’t take our son with us but two of our friends joined us as they couldn’t believe how lovely the lodge was and Limefitt Park as a whole and I’m sure they will be future guests also.

Sue the owner is fantastic - she keeps you well informed with everything you need to know and is so nice to deal with.

Again our break consisted of a long walk then a lovely jacuzzi bath then the pub which is very welcoming after a good walk.

Specifically Recommend:

Don’t take the car, we try to walk everywhere.

The Mortal Man pub where we went most days and for the Wednesday night quiz which was great fun and the staff are so friendly.

The on-site pub, he Haybarn, is also very nice

“Sheer luxury and a perfect weekend retreat”

Was an amazing experience, really pleased. Definitely a five star lodge. The facilities within the lodge and the high standard of furnishings made the weekend a very enjoyable stay. Even the toilet roll was of a high quality! Everything you could possibly want was provided in the lodge, was just like home from home.

Sue, the owner, made sure every little detail was catered for, I had requested a cot and a high chair, both were provided at no extra cost. My little daughter was in her element running around everywhere.

The people were very friendly and the staff at the park were very helpful, and the prices at the onsite shop were very reasonable. They sell all the things you would expect to find in your local shop including DVD rentals.

Specifically Recommend:

Have a trip over to Bowness, so many things to do and see throughout your stay.

Local Gems:

Bowness on Windermere, has great shops, and a cruise on the lake is a must. My daughter loved the aquarium on the other side.

Words cannot describe how amazing this lodge is! My now Fiance took me there to pop the question. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting.

The lodge is absolutely huge and beautifully decorated. Everything we needed was right there. The owners are amazing and ready to help you at the drop of a hat.

And the location!!! Takes your breath away. There is nothing better than waking up to that view on your first day of being an engaged lady.

Perfect says it all.

“Lovely cosy lodge!”

We have stayed in a few lodges, and this one was really lovely. We couldn’t fault it at all.

The location is excellent - Troutbeck is very central for most of the Lakes. We spent more time over at Ullswater on this occasion as there were roadworks on the Windermere Road. What fun! It pushed us in the other direction, and we were rewarded with some lovely walks in the Autumn scenery.

The lodge is located in a great spot, very quiet, but just handy for the bar.... It’s furnished very tastefully, and we found everything we needed was to hand. We also found that in a particularly cold week, the lodge warmed up within a few minutes of putting the central heating on!

Our communications with Sue, before, during and after our stay were excellent. She was very helpful, particularly regarding a special request.

We would definitely return to Fellwalker again.

Not much more to say than excellent. A luxurious lodge in beautiful surroundings made better by the fact that every last detail has been thought of by the owner, right down to the cling film in the cupboard!

“Warm, comfy, beautiful, home from home, would recommend. Fantastic.”

We loved Fellwalker Lodge from the moment we walked in, it was like a home from home, beautifully furnished and well equipped (all the little essentials you normally forget (salt, pepper, tinfoil)) with lots of glasses and crockery. Very warm and welcoming (heating had been put on for when we arrived as we had a newborn baby with us). A lovely and clean lodge. Ideal location for exploring the Lake District.

Even though it was October we managed to sit and have cups of tea on the decking and ’Im sure in the summer it would be great for BBQs, lovely picturesque scenery to while away the hours!

The folder of information was very useful, it included places to visit, supermarkets and even directions for local walks (one of which we did, very nice.)

Limefitt Park is a lovely site, quiet and peaceful and very well looked after. The pub on site (The Haybarn) is very welcoming with great food. It looked well equipped to keep children entertained while you sat and put your feet up with a nice beer or glass of wine.

Sue (the owner) was great, with good communication before and during our stay. A perfect first family holiday would highly recommend.

“I can’t wait to go back and luxuriate there once more”

Firstly, I must admit to being quite fussy and demanding when I’m holidaying. Secondly, I very rarely take the time to leave a review, unless of course it’s to warn others to stay well clear. However, I simply must share with you just how fantastic Fellwalker Lodge is. In a word, Perfect

Now to be a little more wax lyrical. I’ve been very lucky to visit and stay in lots of stunning locations across the globe and Fellwalker Lodge really does come near the top. This lodge would not look out of place on the cover of a glossy designer home magazine. The bespoke kitchen is amazing and fully equipped with all top quality accessories you could possibly need. The Jacuzzi bath is so good I had to prise my girlfriend out of it every night. The bedrooms would not look out of place in a five star hotel and the huge power shower in the ensuite was an invigorating way to start the day.

Twin all this with the fantastic location of Limefitt Park and you really could not want for a more idyllic place to stay. Just step out of the lodge and look in awe at the stunning scenery from the decked living area. Then I challenge you to walk for five minutes and not stumble across, birds, sheep, horses, deer, cows, fish and ponies. Just everything about this trip helped me relax and unwind before reluctantly heading back towards London.

Not only was the lodge and location perfect, but the customer service from Sue was second to none. Nothing seemed too much trouble for her and she even took the time to email me with a fully tailored list of places to go and things to see as I had told her we would be coming with our one and a half year old son.

So in conclusion, if you are thinking of visiting the Lake District, then look no further than Fellwalker Lodge, Limefitt Park, Troutbeck. This is the perfect place to stay and explore this stunning part of the world from.

“Fantastic Home-from-Home”

Wow, what can I say. Over the course of the year we probably stay in 5-7 cottages or lodges and my husband will tell you I am sooooo fussy.

I never write reviews however, on this occasion, felt I must. This place is not only spotless, it is very well appointed, extremely comfortable and a real home-from-home. The Internet does not do it justice as you cannot get the feel of this place until you walk through the door.

The lodge has absolutely everything you need from every type of glass to more crockery you could get through in a weekend, to the little things like dishwasher tablets, cleaning products, kitchen foil and even a torch hanging on the fridge door.

We went to the Haybarn inn, this too was very comfortable and welcoming, with wood burning stoves, books and games to read or play and Sky TV.

We have never been to The Lakes but found this location very central, we have even thought about taking up walking as we started to feel guilty as we went everywhere by car and passed my walkers of all ages en-route!

The site is extremely well maintained, and is the cleanest we have ever stayed on. The lodge is also the owner’s holiday home and thankfully previous guests have respected this and hopefully continue to do so as we will definitely be back.

“Simply fantastic”

Absolutely loved Fellwalker Lodge, from the moment we arrived we felt at home, it was beautifully furnished and very well equipped. We all loved the jacuzzi bath after long walks and left us feeling totally relaxed. We had great weather and even managed a couple of barbeques.

Limefitt Park is a lovely setting for a lodge, lovely and quiet and very well maintained. The Haybarn (the site’s pub) is really nice and very welcoming. The food is very good as well and our son was quite happy in the games room where there is a pool table, darts and computers.

Fellwalker Lodge is great for families but equally suitable for couples and when the weather is good the decking area was great to sit out on with a nice glass of wine.

Specifically Recommend:

The Mortal Man

The Queen’s Head where the food was delicious but a little expensive. We also walked to Ings and had our lunch at the Watermill Inn which serves great food and had lots of local ales.

Local Gems:

All the pubs above. Apart from those the whole of the Lake District is a gem, just being there makes us feel great and to anyone who hasn’t been before then you are definitely missing out.

“Perfect holiday in the countryside”

We returned for a second visit as we liked it so much last time - this time for a longer stay. It still exceeds our expectations as it has everything we want in a break.

We love the property and its surroundings, including walks, are beautifully scenic.

We would recommend this lodge for families and couples and would be ideal for dog owners. Local pubs worth a re-visit.

Once you have been there you would want to visit time and time again.

Specifically Recommend:

We specifically recommend that people try the recommended walks from the lodge, particularly the surrounding farm area.

Local Gems:

The Queen’s in Troutbeck is well worth a visit especially for special occasions.

Bowness for shops, pubs and the lake with swans is particularly popular and worth a visit.

“We can’t recommend it highly enough!”

Having just returned from a short break at Fellwalker Lodge we can highly recommended staying in this lovely accommodation. The Lodge is gorgeous, furnished and decorated to a high standard and in an ideal location to explore the Lake District. Limefitt Park is extremely quiet and peaceful. The park and lodge were spotless and clearly very well looked after.

Although the weather wasn’t great it didn’t stop us enjoying the stunning scenery and sampling the delights of the local pubs and tea rooms.

The owners were extremely helpful and there was plenty of useful information provided both via email and in the lodge itself.

We can’t recommend the Lodge and the location highly enough and hope to return sometime soon.

Specifically Recommend:

The many stunning walks and scenery (lots of info provided on these at the lodge).

Local Gems:

Stunning views from Gummers How.

Windermere Lake Cruises.

Lake Cruise and walk from Bowness to Wray Castle

Mortel Man Pub - excellent menu, food & local ales.

Summary:

“Excellent lodge and site in beautiful surroundings.”

The lodge is set in a beautiful location, is well-equipped and of an excellent standard. My sons loved the on-site playground area and football pitch with nets.

The folder of information at the lodge was really useful and we had one of our favourite days walking with our young children to the Mortal Man pub - the details of this short walk were provided in the lodge folder.

The local surroundings of Troutbeck are fabulous and Limefitt Park is in ideal proximity to Ambleside, Windermere and other Lake District highlights.

I would recommend this property for a family with children, or couples.

The on-site Haybarn pub is modern with good facilities and nice beer garden for sunny evenings.

“Excellent luxurious lodge in beautiful surroundings, ideal for families!”

My two sons, aged 5-7, love it at this park and have been before but said this was the best lodge they have ever stayed in and I have to agree with them. Inside it is high quality throughout and had beautiful soft towels waiting on each bed ready for our stay.

At the top of the lane was direct access to the football pitch and so my 7 year old was happy to take himself off with his new friend (boy in lodge opposite) every day.

The lodge is a 5 minute drive to Windermere and if you have a young family then Brockholes is only 5 minutes down the road. We tried the new Tree top walk (has only just opened 1st June 2012) and at the end myself and my two sons went down the 250m triple zip wire in a race and loved it!

At night we went to The Haybarn which is the pub on site. Very family orientated and dogs also welcome. Lovely food and entertainment for children.

The site has a nice outdoor play area next to the stream and it was shallow enough for the boys to paddle in. We also went to the water sports centre 10 minutes away and hired a boat to go on Windermere so lots to do.

For me it was very relaxing and being able to have breakfast on the decking area overlooking the gorgeous scenery was fantastic. View of fields with sheep and horse riding on site made it very quiet All families on site were friendly and dogs being there made it feel very welcoming to all (we did not have a dog but boys managed to find lots to play with!).

Overall very happy with our stay, Sue was great with communications and we will be looking to stay again!

Brockholes is excellent for families, and free entry

Fantastic lodge which was a home away from home. Very clean with a cosy feel. The whirlpool bath was a massive treat after a long day’s exploring.

Sue was very helpful, and supplied us with exact directions to the lodge. A must for all visitors wanting a escape from the daily grind.

Location brilliant for exploring the lakes and the fells. The lodge is located in fantastic surroundings with a fun and cosy pub, The Haybarn Inn to melt away the evening.

Summary:

“A comfortable stylish haven from which to explore a beautiful valley and the wider Lake District”

Having looked at the website we came with high hopes, and we can only say that our visit exceeded even these. The location was just what we looked for - a real experience of the fells, with a good outlook and comfortable setting - Fellwalker Lodge ticked all our boxes.

The location is quiet, and the lodge itself couldn’t be more comfortable, with all the extras that make such a difference. We were traveling with an adult son with special needs, so we really appreciated the separate rooms, with a TV and DVD in both bedrooms. There is plenty of floorspace, and that permeating warmth that made everything extra cosy.

Sue was very helpful at our inquiry stage, and a genuine welcoming character is reflected in the way the lodge is set up.

Specifically Recommend:

We just loved the deck area - finding a patch in the sun to enjoy a good coffee and chat.

Local Gems:

Grassy table area down by the beck, and all the options for choosing a walk.

Jesus Church is quite a gem too, with an especially impressive stained glass window.

En Route:

A wander around Bowness is very worthwhile - made us appreciate the quiet of Limefitt after the crowds (on a Bank Holiday weekend).

Close enough to the town centres, but far enough apart to feel the space and fresh air.

“Beautiful !!!! you will not be disappointed”

We stayed at Fellwalker Lodge for a long weekend in March. The Lodge was absolutely fabulous. The Lodge looked brand new and the standard of decor and furniture was very high.

When booking, the owners were very friendly and helpful. The Lodge is equipped to a high standard with all the kitchen accessories you would need. Limefitt Park is a lovely site with some beautiful scenery and was very quiet and peaceful whilst we were there. There is a pub on site which serves lovely food and the staff were very friendly.

The site is only a 5-10 minute drive away from the hustle of Windermere with plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and a large supermarket. It is also the perfect base for visiting the rest of the Lake District. The booking reception also has a mini-mart which sells essentials with DVD hire available. The site also has a specific dog field and separate children’s play area for your little lovelies. We would definitely recommend a stay at Fellwalker Lodge.

Specifically Recommend:

Pony trekking is available on-site although unfortunately this was closed during our visit.

Local Gems:

The Lake District has so many hidden gems it would be difficult to list them all, we just recommend that you explore and then return to this lovely Lodge at the end of the day.

En Route:

We passed through Windermere en-route which was handy to pop to the large supermarket to stock up on provisions for whilst we were at Fellwalkers Lodge.

“A great place for a family of four to enjoy and unwind in The Lakes”

A comfortable stay with enjoyable outdoor tourist opportunities a short drive or walk nearby. The children enjoyed the park facilities and the on-site inn provided a relaxed setting for an easy meal out. The kitchen was well equipped enabling some fine dining at home base too.

Ambience was set with the use of an iPod player, or if you wanted to, the use of the TV or DVD player allowed for adults to have a lie in, whilst the children watched the box. The property was warm and the spa bath with bubbles was a highlight, especially for the children.

Very suitable for couples and families, the few steps from the car parking area to the deck would require a lift for anybody with mobility issues.

Specifically Recommend:

Pack the wine or beers to enjoy with dinner, and a pack of cards or UNO for round the table family entertainment

Local Gems:

Lots of National Trust properties to go to.

Grizedale Forest and the Go-Ape were fab.
