“Treat yourself to a stay at Cosy Nook cottage”

Cosy is a very good description of Cosy Nook cottage, as is gorgeous, cute, quaint, comfortable and characterful - with exposed beams in the lounge room and loft-style bedroom upstairs. The kitchen is very well equipped, the beds very comfortable and the bathroom, complete with full-size bath tub, was generous in size. Added bonuses were a good sized flat screen TV and a washing machine. The owners were very friendly and accommodating.

Cosy Nook is in a very quiet, attractive, rural location with walking trails nearby. Only a 10 minute drive to Macclesfield, it is a convenient base for exploring the Peak District.

We and our 2 small doggies thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay - walking, exploring villages in the Peak District and relaxing indoors while reading and watching the snow fall - a real novelty for we two Aussies. I would definitely recommend anyone to treat themselves to a stay here.

“Fabulous, friendly and home from home”

Have stayed at Cosy Nook 10 times in the last six years. Jackie and Malcolm are always so welcoming - it’s just like home from home.

Beautiful, cosy cottage in fantastic location surrounded by glorious countryside and endless walks.
Love to re-visit our favourite places such as Carsington Water (near Matlock), Tittersworth Lake, Rudyard Lake, Tatton Park, Trentham Gardens (for shopping), Buxton and Manifold Valley (on the Ashbourne Road).

Had many good meals in the Knott Inn just on the doorstep within walking distance. Can’t wait for our next visit next year.

Specifically Recommend:

Tatton Park, Carsington Water, Buxton and Tittersworth Lake.

Summary:

“Probably the best cottage in the world”

Cosy Nook is a delightful cottage for two persons in the lovely hamlet of Rushton Spencer. The cottage was extremely well equipped in every way. The gardens were beautiful and Jackie and Malcolm obviously take great care of the grounds. Our dog was able to have free access to the garden as it is completely dog-escape-proof.

The beds are very comfortable and the bedroom is a reasonable size. There is Sky TV available in the bedroom if required. The kitchen was better equipped than our own kitchen and had everything.

We have been cottage holidaying in the UK for the last 12 years and I can honestly say that Cosy Nook is probably the best one so far.

Specifically Recommend:

Peace and quiet.

Lovely gardens.

Short walk to the local pub.

Near lots of beautiful walks.

Local Gems:

Rudyard Water is the best waterside walk in the area.

“The best cottage and location I have stayed in in this country and I have stayed in a few 5 star!”

A real home-from-home and really exceeded our expectations. Jackie even sent a print out of directions from my home. Fresh flowers were a nice touch. Ideal if you want to relax, walk or tour the area.

The cottage is the best equipped that I have ever stayed in, and garden area lovely with lots of seating.

Very dog friendly, but spotlessly clean with no dog smells or hair.

You only need to take toothbrush and toothpaste as everything else is provided bathroom-wise.

Please make sure you have essential food stuff (bottle of milk in fridge when you arrive and tea and coffee to make a cuppa), as the nearest shop is about 4 miles.

Anyone booking here will not be disappointed, you just need to read the visitors book in the cottage - so many return guests and I can see why as I would like to return in the future. Everything was thought of with comfort in mind.

Specifically Recommend:

The Knott Inn for good food

Rudyard Lake for lovely walks

Bakewell pudding in Bakewell - take bread to feed the ducks

Stoke on Trent potteries

Alton Towers for thrill seekers

Thai restaurant in Leek

Summary:

“An excellent holiday cottage in a lovely location, well worth a visit”

Cosy Nook is set in a rural location amidst the Staffordshire Moorlands. The cottage facilities are excellent and your privacy is guaranteed. All mod-cons in the cottage make this a home-from-home holiday.

There is a well-equipped kitchen with a large downstairs bathroom leading off from this. A cosy lounge (with Sky T.V.) and a dining area with stairs leading to the open-galleried bedroom. There are two comfortable single beds and a second T.V. There is plenty of storage space and lovely views from the windows.

The cottage is clean, warm and cosy - central heating and a gas fire in the lounge. There is a pleasant garden surrounding the cottage, ideal for dogs to have a run around in and for adults and children to enjoy the surrounding scenery. The countryside is reasonably hilly but there are gentle walks from the door which are ideal for dog walking or for just a gentle stroll.

The old railway line runs through the village and if you walk along the path by the Knot Inn it takes you to Rudyard Reservoir. A 5 mile circular walk around brings you back to the Inn for a well-earned rest.

Cosy Nook exceeded all my expectations - it was very well equipped and there was nothing else that I needed to bring with me.

Specifically Recommend:

The peace and quiet of the small village and surrounding area.

There are good links to local towns and places of interest.

Lots of places to walk and lovely scenery.

Be Aware:

You need to bring 1 GBP coins for the electricity meter.
Please see Owner’s Reply at foot of page

Local Gems:

Knot Inn in the village.
Rudyard Reservoir for walking.
Stoke-On-Trent for the potteries.

Summary:

“Everything we had hoped for”

The cottage was a box of delights. While accurately described on the website, if anything the description was very modest.

The cottage was delightful in every way. Having not seen any internal photographs of the property, we were delighted with the quality of the furnishings and attention to detail.

Being there in November we really appreciated the thoughtful, cosy touches such as electric blankets on the beds. The attention to detail by the owners was astounding. Nothing had, seemingly, been overlooked. There were even fresh flowers in the sitting room.

The cottage was warm, comfortable, and very peaceful. The feeling of privacy and homeliness also extended to the garden of the cottage, with a BBQ and equipment, along with ample garden furniture.

Specifically Recommend:

The collection of guide books, local information publications, games, books, DVDs CDs provided by the owners. Very useful after a busy day out and about, especially during the inclement weather.

Local Gems:

Would recommend visiting Northwich, Buxton, Bakewell and Glossop. All interesting places and with beautiful surrounding countryside.

“Excellent - peaceful”

Excellent cottage in an ideal location. Both the cottage and garden exceeded our expectations - the advert was accurate but probably did not stress how good the outside and garden is.

Very quiet. Excellent for dogs with good, safe and large garden for your pets. Excellent walks nearby. We have been to this cottage three times and will probably come back again.

The cottage is fitted to an excellent standard and very clean. It has everything you would need - even Sky TV. Outside there is everything you need - even a BBQ.

Specifically Recommend:

A MUST for dog owners - very peaceful and you are left alone.

Summary:

“Outstanding value”

Cosy Nook was a home-from-home, extremely well-equipped, surpasses all previous properties visited. If you had it in your own house at home, you would most likely find it here, and more. Everything has been covered by the owner, we were extremely pleased with the entire stay

You have your own grassed patio areas overlooking fields, very safe and secure for a youngster to run free. We found the abandoned railway perfect for our grandson to ride his bike all the way to Rudyard Lake yachts and miniature railway. The Knot Inn has a superb playground for kids plenty of outdoor tables for drinking and eating

Specifically Recommend:

Take walking boots and bikes - the area lends itself to both. The cottage even has a washer drier if you get caught in the rain!

Be Aware:

You need to take some supplies with you, as there is no shop in the village, but there is a less expensive Co-Op or Aldi in Leek approx 5 miles, and a market on Wednesdays.

Local Gems:

The Knot Inn, just round the corner, for good food and drink.

Rudyard Lake, a nice 2 mile walk via the old railway track, starting at the pub.

Leek for a good mix of shops

En Route:

Two adults and our 4 year old grandchild, travelling from Huddersfield via Glossop Buxton, prefer to avoid motorways for a more peaceful start to a holiday that is a mere 50 mile trip, lovely countryside and very good roads
