“The perfection of this thatched-roof cottage is beyond the scope of printed or website brochures”
This is a rare place being a cottage for just two people. The interior decorations with beautiful fabrics and original paintings make it quite charming. The bespoke kitchen and its equipment are excellent and includes an Aga cooker (complete with several cookery books) - but also an electric one for those not wishing to try something new.
Outside there is a patio with granite table and chairs, and another sitting area with loungers. An additional patio area on the other side of the cottage is probably ready now, so you’ll be able to catch the sun all day (something new to try next year - we have already booked to come again).
Much is done to make this cottage eco-friendly and the owners will provide free-range eggs and will arrange for local products to arrive, such as yoghurt and fish. Bird feeding tables and nesting boxes strategically placed attract all manner of birds, including the great spotted woodpecker.
For each of the 3 years we have been there, our expectations have been surpassed by the thoughtful little additional touches made by Elizabeth (such as bicycles and field glasses.) A lovely picnic hamper, complete with wine glasses, and a rucksack appeared for this, our third two-week stay here.
So many places worth visiting....
Penzance, Truro and Falmouth for shops and much else of interest.
Fishing villages eg Mousehole, has excellent restaurants - 2 Fore Street and the Cornish Range.
Beaches such as Sennen Cove.
Art galleries eg. Penlee, Newlyn, St.Ives and St.Just.
And, our favourite, coastal walking, eg The Lizard and around Pendeen.
Using the A38-A30 we have found Bovey Tracy and Ashburton good places to stop for lunch away from the main road.
