“A delight”
This cottage is special...it promises much AND lives up to it on a number of fronts - some places are tidy, but not as well-equipped... some are snug, but slightly down-at-heel... some are a delight inside, but lack a sanctuary of a garden in which to really relax and open the lungs... most have either a bath or shower, rarely both... the king-sized bed (well, what else in a cottage with this name!) gives you room to really stretch out.
It is accurately described on the website as ’a hideaway’ - I kept losing my bearings once inside. We were itching for the weather to deteriorate further so we could justify lighting the wood-burning stove! Sadly, it wasn’t required.
The provision of information at time of booking, together with permission to use the owner’s landline as an emergency contact telephone number were very thoughtful and further examples of the attention to detail that so signifies this cottage and the owner’s intention to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
The effort made to recycle a wide variety of material and the collection of kitchen waste for composting was exceptional. I’m sure this will encourage people to try to emulate the King Gaddle approach on return to their home.
Discovering which way the road took us each day, rather than having fixed places to visit, added to the enjoyment of our holiday. The cottage is in a perfect location from which to start exploring the delights around this part of Wales everything seems accessible. We just ran out of time!
Be Aware:When you are cooking lots and using two baking trays in the oven, check that the baking tray is secure if using it in place of a shelf - one tray misleads you to think it is secure when it isn’t! This is not a problem if using the tray on an oven shelf.
Local Gems:Stackpole Estate, Colby Woodland Garden (esp for the food!) and taking advantage of Open Gardens in the locality.

“A wonderful break from the bustle of life in an idyllic location”
King Gaddle provides a wonderful base for a quiet, get-away-from-it-all holiday. The owners have put a great deal of thought into making the cottage a home from home.
The wood burning stove with supplies of fuel available from the owners and the sun trap patio are especially nice features.
It was much better equipped than other holiday cottages we have used. The furniture, equipment and facilities were all excellently maintained.
Laugharne is a quirky, sleepy town in a fabulous position on an estuary and from here there is easy access to some of the most spectacular beaches in the country.
Everything - we cannot fault the cottage.
Be Aware:The only thing which could make the cottage better would be a dishwasher, but having to wash up didn’t spoil our holiday at all.
Local Gems:Stackpole, Tenby and Cresswell Quay for a real ale pub.
