“Beautiful barn!”
What a beautiful property in an idyllic location - no neighbours in sight, but just a 10 min drive from the nearest main town for food and drink etc.
Everything you might want was provided, from a travel cot to a highchair, books, games, DVDs, even a playstation, enough pots and pans for a three course meal, a cosy woodburner, a BBQ - the list goes on! I’ve never stayed at such a well equipped property.
The views were just stunning - you could easily sit on the sofa and just spend a good while admiring the vistas in both directions through the French doors. There are some wonderful walks right from the door and excellent places to eat and visit nearby. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return!
If you visit during winter, a 4x4 type car would be advised - some of the roads leading to the property are steep and would be difficult to traverse with snow-mud-ice on the road.
Local Gems:We visited and thoroughly enjoyed Llanelieu church, Pwll-y-Wrach nature reserve-falls.
Talgarth Mill, Felin Fach Griffin, Tretower Court and Castle and Hay-on-Wye.

“The most idyllic and peaceful stay you could wish for in Wales”
This is the most fantastic and picturesque property and we have enjoyed the most fantastic weekend. I cannot recommend this place enough.
The barn has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Worthy of its 5 star rating. The property has all mod cons with a fantastic and well-stocked kitchen. The wood burning fire kept us lovely and warm in winter too.
It is quite remote and thus extremely peaceful. The views from both of the vast glass doors either side of the property are stunning. The pictures on the Under The Thatch website do not do it justice.
Walks can be taken into the Black Mountains from the property or it’s a short drive to various other walks. The property even comes with a map for a selection of walks. A trip to Llanthony Priory is well worth it, as is sampling the local ale.
The beautiful views from the property over the Black Mountains and the Welsh valleys. Picturesque.
Be Aware:The property is difficult to access in the winter as the dirt track running up to the house is quite steep and narrow. Was all part of the fun though and we managed it relatively easily
Local Gems:Black Mountains. Llanthony Priory
