“Quiet, beautiful, friendly. Complete and immediate relaxation”
This is a very different and very beautiful venue in the most stunning location. Both exceeded expection as this place is impossible to imagine.
It is a railway carriage but not just in style and on the exterior but it IS a railway carriage on the inside which is so interesting and so cosy. Two double bedrooms should be cramped but are not, plenty of space for boots and coats etc. proper little bathroom with a great shower. Even a dining room. Little sitting room with a wood burner and a basket of logs ready to go. Plus a kitchen with all you need even if you are inclined to cook a full evening meal. Every thing all clean and fresh. A little telly and even WiFi The heaters had been put on before we arrived so it was warm and cosy.
As for the position, it is the sort of view you would put your walking boots on to try and find. but you don’t have to cause you are living there. It feels remote and wild. The views from the windows are of the bay with Snowdon on a good day visible right in the distance. In the bay itself are dolphins... For real. Take your binoculars as when the tide was going out the dolphins seem to charge and leap around off Aberporth. On the third day the dolphins just swam and played right outside the carriage for at least half an hour.
But forget the venue, forget the incredible position. Forget the dolphins. The other thing which is stunning is the silence, no plane noises, no road noise just the wind and the sea, how good is that. I can’t recommended this place highly enough.
The area itself is so friendly. Turn left out of the the gate and 10 mins you walk to Aberporth with a beach, a good general shop, a hardware shop that does OS maps, and great little cafe for breakfast and great coffee. Walk right out of the gate and you walk 20 mins up and down a hill and you great to Tresaith with another little beach and a pub with great views, good beer and food. Over the next hill another beach with a stream and cave and just magic magic magic.
You do need to be prepared to walk as the carriage is 5 min walk down an unlit path from the village so torches and waterproofs are essential. But on the fourth day of our stay we decided that nowhere was as nice as where we were staying so we might as well hang up the boots and sit on the verandah and watch the sea with a good book and cup of tea.
As for the service from the company, they were perfect I had a small problem when I arrived but it was sorted so quickly and kindly with lots of unnecessary apologies I cannot fault them.
Book an extra day as you will not want to leave
There is a garage at the end of the road that sells bags of wood so grab one on your way. If you turn left out of the village and drive about two miles there is a farmers’ shop that sells great local a cheese and meat as well as cakes and veg etc. regretfully we found it on our last day...
An evening on Aberporth beach watching the local kids messing about on canoes and surfboards as the sunsets. It might not seem significant but with kids being much maligned these days it was great so see their joy and enthusiasm on a cold evening in October

“Quiet, Friendly, Cosy and Spectacular! GO!”
A Charming place to stay in a wonderful spot on the cliffs... Extremely friendly people everywhere we went..... Gorgeous walks and generally very enjoyable.
The railway carriage is simple and comfortable but not so pristine that you feel inhibited... Clean and fresh with comfy beds and a child- and dog-safe garden completely fenced.... The wood burning stove was toasty and made the whole carriage very cosy..... .Lovely hot shower too.
The views sitting on the wide, covered verandah to the front are magnificent stretching right across Cardigan Bay to Snowdon in the distance...Lovely walk to Tresaith about half an hour away with a good friendly pub.
Could really have used a few more days.... Would thoroughly recommend this.... Under the Thatch were efficient and very helpful..... Thank you!
A torch if you arrive after dark or perhaps just don’t arrive after dark! - it’s a walk along the unlit coast path with sheer cliffs to one side and luggage.... All part of the adventure!
We would have loved a bit of info on the history of Wendy....When she arrived etc......
Tresaith has a lovely pub, The Ship.....Aberporth has a pub, The Ship and Llangrannog down the road has a lovely pub, funnily enough The Ship....
