“Great getaway country cottage”
We booked this holiday looking for a complete get away from it all week and this was delivered in spades. The location is pretty much perfect for walking though you have to be ready to be adventurous. As there appear to be so few walkers in the area access across fences is sometimes difficult.
Most of the year there will be sheep in nearly every field so dogs will mostly be kept on leads. For cycling the local hills look great and I’ll definitely think about going back again.
As far as the cottage goes it was great if you’re looking for something warm, log fire cosy and good socialising. Access to property could be tricky in a wet autumn or winter as the drive is very steep and mobile reception, for Vodafone at least, is non-existent for some miles around (except at the top of hills).
Take good waterproofs

“A wonderful barn conversion in a beautiful setting that won’t disappoint.”
Wow what a fantastic place to stay! A beautiful barn conversion in a tranquil setting that exceeded our expectations. Lots of space to chill out (cosy mezzanine with sofa and DVD player) and a slate patio overlooking the terraced garden and valley, with the sound of the babbling stream below.
Well planned for socialising with a large, quality kitchen and open planned glass conservatory with views. The cottage is well equipped to a high standard with everything you need for your holiday, including reading material, DVDs and local tips and recommendations that won’t disappoint. The owners are environmentally friendly and dogs are welcome.
Beautiful walks directly from the cottage, 20 minutes from a lovely coastline and within reaching distance of Mount Snowdon.
A great location for a truly magical getaway

“Beautiful longhouse with exceptional detail in the interior from the walls to the lighting - very special place to stay”
This longhouse is something very special, like all the places we have visited through Under the Thatch.
You can sit out on the front garden area with decking and view the beautiful sunsets. The interior of this house is so wonderful, so much detail thought of that it does truly feel so welcoming. The quirkiness of this place truly inspires you. We have stayed here twice now, and you normally have to book in advance as it is so popular.
The town of Machynlleth is lovely too, has everything you need for your stay. Great market on a Wednesday.
We visited the activity centre where the King Arthur’s labyrinth unfolds, great fun for kids and adults.
Will be going back next year, but have booked another cottage just for a change in October.
