“Simply the Best”
Everything on the web site is absolutely true. There is everything you need for your holiday. It is extremely peaceful and eco-friendly, yet not far from all amenities. Marhayes is very comfortable and spacious, ie beds, sofas etc.
The facilities are brilliant for dogs and their owners. The dog walks were well laid out and planned. The pool, gym and sauna again excellent - good quality equipment and fantastic panoramic views.
All the staff that we met were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
We had forgotten to pack our wellies but delighted that there was a selection to borrow FOC, especially as it wasn’t the best of weather!
Wi-Fi was available via an office, connectivity easy.
We would definitely recommend Helsbury Park and will hopefully be returning again in the not too distant future.

“Wonderful views and luxurious dog-friendly accommodation on the edge of Bodmin Moor”
We have visited Helsbury Park and stayed in Marhayes a number of times, most recently in May 2011.
The property was previously a barn that has been converted into fabulous holiday accommodation. The property sits at the top of a hill overlooking the Camel Valley and Bodmin Moor, giving wonderful views.
The property is one of a small number of holiday cottages that share 100 acres of grounds for walking as well as a wonderful new pool.
The barn has three lovely bedrooms (all en-suite). Downstairs the kitchen-dining room is very well equipped and opens through to the lounge.
It is unusual to find somewhere with such a high specification that allows dogs to come too - in fact they are made very welcome with doggy treats and soap provided. (Our pooch loved the treats, but treated the soap with suspicion when he realised he couldn’t eat it).
Overall this is a wonderful place to take a break - can’t recommend it highly enough.
The pool and the views.
Local Gems:The fish and chip shop in Camelford (phone ahead if you have a large order) - awesome!
En Route:We didn’t stop, but my sister stopped at River Cottage Kitchen in Dorchester and said it was worth a visit.
