“It was bliss”
Mandinam is a very special place. The hut itself is lovingly furnished and very cosy with a wood-burning stove. It’s situated right next to a pond, with beautiful views across the fields and down into the valley.
The Lampards very kindly supplied me with an excellent map of the farm, also taking the time to answer questions that I had, and letting me wander up-hill and down-dale to my heart’s content
Marcus and Danielle are in fact perfect hosts. Very close by if needed, yet they also left me to my own devices
One of the previous guests described it as follows (to paraphrase)... ’better than a 5-star hotel - just look up and you can see millions of them’. I couldn’t describe it any better myself.
It’s not the Ritz, however if you are looking for a country escape, far from the madding crowd, this is a most excellent spot.
Visitors should definitely go to the Red Lion in the village of Llangadog for a meal - they are most welcoming and the food is delicious.

“This is indeed posh camping but lovers of 5 star hotels and waitress service need not apply, let’s keep it to the lovers of nature, conservation and the outdoors eh...”
As avid campers and lovers of the great British outdoors we found the Shepherd’s Hut a very refreshing change. The very cosy and romantic little hut is hidden away in a secluded and private corner of a very beautifully kept farm.
There is a small lake to sit by, magnificent views to stare into, red kites and buzzards wheeling overhead and the silence is deafening. The wood burner keeps the hut very warm and cosy at night. Likewise the shower room and water are kept hot by a wood burner.
The proprietors, Marcus and Danielle, are very friendly, kept our privacy but were only a few hundred yards away if required. They obviously look after their 450 acre gem with a passion
The hut and surroundings contain all that is required for a couple to be transported out of reality and forget that time exists.
Local Gems:Take your own food and wine, cook on the camp stove and eat in front of the lake!
